Aerogarden Problems

Heylo

Ok so my problem is shown down below. This is one of 3 plants that has experienced this problem it has significantly reduced its grow rate and is really posing a problem seeing as it has occoured so early in growth.

This plant is being grown in an Aerogarden Deluxe, it has 3 CLF grow bulbs, 7 places to put plants and i am running it on 16/8 light cycle.

To start with i had 3 plants from seed and i put 2 small nutrient tablets that came from the Aerogarden Master Grow kit (thats recommended). I put the seeds in the "grow foam" and glued the top together (as it says to do) using non toxic PVA glue.

I am really stuck on what to do for this little dude, i have tried washing the water yet the burn still occurs.

Thankyou in advance for any help
Cheers
J

you used the nutes too soon.. also just add 1 tablet per week after the plant has 4 nodes (levels of growth) It should make it .. fill the res to the brim, (never mind that fill to here thing) and add an airstone.. Click on my sig and read from page 1 .. good luck

I've looked at your thread before, its really good allot to learn from that.
But i still cant find out how to cure it, i havn't fed them in 2 weeks and the new leaves are still popping up with these brown droopy parts.
If you have any specific advice lets hear it because there isnt a whole lot that can go worse from here.

Thanks again

well, actually the new leaves are quite green, just maybe a little brown around the tips. Use pure distilled water for at least 4 days, it'll cure it.

how do your stems look?

the AG can overwater sometimes (depends on setting), and that can lead to stem rot and that can cause a whole tv reality show worth of problems...

just a thought... not sure it applies to you... but , there it is...

I don't even use the pump on mine anymore... just an air pump/stone...

Good luck...

Wow cheers guys, this thread has attracted some of my favorite members info wise :)

Ok So, i'm on the Peppers cycle (16/8 - 20/4) and i think thats the right one.
I dont have any air stones or a separate pump for the water.

As for my stems, as far as i know all is well, they have little leaves poking up on the longer ones and what look like little black lines (female maybe?)
As far as my stems go its the leaves i'm most concerned about.

Thanks heaps yo

Are your roots in the water yet?

If yes, you can get an air pump and stone and just shut the water pump off...

When there is water constantly flowing over the root, it may suffocate without access to air...

When you add the air pump and stone, you eliminate the drowning problem... and get rid of the unnecessary water pump...

My 2 cents...

Hmmmm, enlighten me on said air pump and air stones.
I get the general idea (air the roots so they don't rot) but how do i apply them?
thanks for the advice

Sick potatoes Gypsy!

Thats a fuckin awesome thread!

Ok well, see i have a fish tank with an air filter thing that bubbles up like you describe, but is only got the one tube. I'm running 4 plants do you recommend i get 4 tubes to spread out through the tank?

Its a good little article you wrote there, you certainly know your shit :D

Yea dude thats what i was looking at.
the mini one is what i was reading :)

So lets see if i got this straight...
Pump air up through the garden to provide air to the roots to stop them from getting root rot and also because roots like air?

Cheers again

H2O2 is hydrogen peroxide... do a search for doses and usage...

What I meant by drowning is... before the roots grow out, and all there is hanging there is a little nub... the AG water pump, may completely encase the root nub in water... sealing it from any air at all...

But since they don't reach the water yet... if you switch the pump off, they will dry up and die...

So I would try to figure out what it the minimum amount of time you can run the pump for, and not kill the seedlings... They don't need to be wet 24/7... moist, or damp, but not soaked...

Again, man... I am not an expert... just trying to help out with my opinions...

Good luck...

Hey Gyspy
Just saw your plants on another thread, sweet as dude you raised the bar on AG growing.
So i went and bought an air pump, pipe splitter and 1m of hose.
Do you suggest i split the hose up so that it bubbles around all the plants, or just shove the hose in and as long as its below the water its good?

Anyway i have the pump im just waiting for a second opinion on how to use it and since its your idea, your my main man :)

Cheers

I have been using the AG to grow for some time now. I have had amazing results. Especially using an autoflowering hybrid. It works great. Usually get at least an ounce of each. I had a thread on another website and had replys and questions like crazy. So, I wrote a manual on it. If you want a great manual that lists all accessories needed and lots and lots of tips and how to's, you might want to check out the link below. Believe me, it is well worth it and will help you avoid mistakes that happen while you are learning. I have been doing this since the AG came out. I have made every mistake out there. Good luck. Check out the link if interested.

instead of making 8 dollars which is nothing... why don't you just put your information out there like everyone else on this board and not just try to make a quick buck... greedy is the word that comes up in my head!
