I haven't gotten it yet...it came with the coupon and I had to mail it in, which I didn't do until I came back a few days ago. I'm guessing it has blank cups/foam ..all the nutrients which I won't use, lol...and who knows what else.

I got some video thing in the mail, and I got my bonus seed kit (in addition to the "gourmet herbs" that came with it).

When you gonna post some more pics :) lol...I wanna see how yer girls are doin!

PS. The light was only 150...shipped. I'm putting them under it today. I'll adjust the hood then. I need to run to homedepot and get me the duct work and fan. It'll be way too hot in there for the plants.

I will most likely take cuttings today to make clones. I have that set, temps have been steady. If any take, I'm going to put them in soil when they are big enough and move them under the HPS. I figure I have enough room for 2-3 potted plants, alongside the 7 I have in the aerogarden. All the transplants took, so I should have all when harvest comes. I'm thinking the really small one might be indica. Only guessing cause I read those tend to be smaller.

And on the fruit flies. I'd cover it with cheese cloth. It will keep them at bay. Also, the cabinet is in an unheated attic area. Most likely too cold for them. I checked, the set up of the light timer and day/night will keep the plants at good temps all day.

The fox farm...it came with a feeding schedule. I'll assume that's the one you're talking about.

I need to go put up an xmas tree.

Later!

thats awesome...does anyone know who that was posted by? the video...
Don't know who posted it, but that's essentially what my setup will be. I plan on sealing up the cabinet, though, and circulating air through it with a pvc pipe duct system. It'll help eliminate smell by directing all the air in the grow chamber through a carbon filter.

mine doesnt smell at all, execpt for that light smell, you know what i mean?

By "light" smell do you mean the odor itself is barely noticable, or that the light is causing an odor?

Seems kind of strange that marijuana wouldn't have a pungent smell though... I've seen a single plant that made an entire room stink so I would imagine a confined area with dense buds would really penetrate. If that's not the case, though, more power to this aero garden machine

Another thing I imagined I'd have to deal with was noise. If this machine has an air pump it probably vibrates. How much noise does this thing make, and could it be muffled by simply putting it in a closet? I'd love to know because if I don't have to worry about smell and sound it's going to save me a lot of initial spending. PVC and carbon filters are easy enough to buy/build and not that expensive, but retrofitting the cabinet to have an air filteration system and sound proofing material could be a pain in the ass.

it smells like ions, you know? i cant really explain it. it smells like dead air, even though ive got a fan going. NOT like weed, and thats the good part

I'm sure the "smell" will come once they start to flower, and then we'll need to come up with a good solution to remove the stankiness :)

I hope that just getting a few of those smaller Ionizers will do the trick. Does anyone have any experience with those ?

I've got a plan to eliminate the odor, but it involves building a carbon filter. I'll have to put it to paper and share it, 'cause I'm sure it could work for a few of us here, especially if you're using a small grow "box."

Ok, so it's been 3 weeks since I planted my seeds in the Aerogarden, and all is going well. I've thought about various things, but here is my current plan..and I just wanted to see what other people think:
  1. I'm going to start flowering now
  2. Once the sex starts to show, I will weed out the males
  3. I will immediately revert back to 18/6 light cycle to make the females go back into vegative growth (they will have only been flowering just long enough to show their sex)
  4. After 2 weeks of being back into vegative growth, I will take "cuttings" from the females and plant them in soil (once the clones are rooted), these will become my "mothers"
  5. While the cuttings are growing back into healthy moms, I will flower the remaining females in the Aerogarden (figure about 2 months give or take)
  6. During the 2 months , the moms will be growing and (hopefully) producing enough new growth to take cuttings from and re-plant into the aerogarden..cycle is complete, and now every 2 months I can harvest...
I have 2 questions:

1 - does my plan sound ok ?

2 - In step 4 , I plan on taking cuttings and using these to grow into my mother plants. How is the best way to do the clones if I plan on growing in soil ? Can I just use the little rockwool cubes, and then plop the rooted cubes right into some soil ?

i really wanna try something similar to that i guess. i think that you are forgetting that even though you have now got a cutting to put in the aerogarden you still need to veg and flower it, which will be more than 2 months, but something like 3 sounds feasiable

sounds like a good plan....

Like I've said before i think that clones in the aerogarden may be the best way to go....

But I would still like to perfect seeds in the aerogarden.....

Ummm I thought that rooted clones need only a week of veg untill flower....

I've heard from reliable source that all it takes to get a clone going is a healthy cutting.....a little water in a cup.....and keeping the cup dark, and letting the top of the clone get some light....occasionally blowing some bubbles in the water to give oxygen....it takes 1-2 weeks for roots to appear...then plant....

There are other ways but this is basic and will work....

Peace

Yea, I planned on putting the clones (from the mother plants) into 1" rockwool cubes, or the 1.5" rockwool "pellets" (more cylindrical shaped)..and then putting those into the aerogarden baskets like the little foam peices are now.

is that really true that only takes 2 weeks of veg for the clone when the roots arent established? if thats so this aerogarden would be amazing to use. it could change my entire world. if so someone please post

This is all based on articles and comments that i've read on this forum, books, and other websites and documentation:

A clone is an already mature plant, so there is no real need to hve a veg cycle once it has some roots. From what I understand, it only takes a week or so to get a clone to sprout some roots...once rooted, it can be flowered immediately if desired (and I will desire :) ).

This way I can use more, if not all of the pods in the aerogarden to grow small clones, and they will all be well within the height range of the unit.

However, I can always remove the light hood (and use that to light my mother plant), and get a 150w CFL, or a 150w HPS light to use for flowering the clones.
