Aeroponic grow design INPUT NEEDED

sup guys,
so i am currently running a 30 spot 2" netpot aeroponic build right now, my issue is i clone from my mother plant directly into the 2" net pots with a foam guard on the top, I use absolutely no medium when i make my clones because then the spray heads hit the stems directly.

My issue is that since my last grow....this doesnt work very well stability wise, how can i transfer my 2" netpot clones to either a stable 3-4" pot with clay rocks to add the weight necessary to get to harvest???

I just dont know how to transfer to that kind of environment without damaging the roots when i bury them with pebbles...

all input appreciated, cheers!

Can you root your cuttings in the cloner without net pots? Just using neoprene inserts? So you can just slide them out? Do you know what I mean.. . I think I make sense... Good luck! Sounds awesome, ive got a rail sitting here, I just need the balls to try it!

Tape the net pots down and tie the plants up to take the pressure off the net pot , or like the guy said about no net pot to clone then move it to bigger net pot I like 3" but I have a ton of two inch left so im going to use them up first

Don't worry about damaging the roots bro. I've transferred clones to Hydroton many times with never a problem. Remember, roots are a lot tougher than you think! I've personally seen roots lift a heavy sidewalk and then I had to pay someone to cut the fucking thing back and pour a new sidewalk. Roots are badass!

When I transfer the clones over to Hydroton Pellets I just put the plant all the way to the bottom so that some of the roots hang out the bottom holes. Then just fill it with pellets. You may have a couple of days of transplant shock but all that happens is your plants just sit there with a stoned look in their eyes. Well, that is if plants had eyes...

Here's my question to you, why transfer at all? I run my plants through their entire cycle in 2" netpots.

My best luck with adding stability to clones is tearing open a rockwool cube on one side and inserting the clone into the rockwool. Then they will rapidly grow into the cube you can easily cover it with groton and it will give you the much needed stability. Fist pump, grow chronic.

thanks all for the ideas, I guess I thought roots were alot more delicate than they are!

StinkBud, just want to let you know that your article, "how to grow a pound every three weeks" was my bible for my grow setup, this is my third harvest running with your nutrient combination and I use your aeroponic cloner setup to run my whole system.
Just thought how it was a little crazy how I took so many designs from your thread and here I am a year later back at rollitup
and StinkBud gives me more help once again haha...
thanks alot guys love the community hurr

Cheers,

I saw someone that put up a great idea if your still looking. They put the netpots in water up to the rim, they the put the clone in the netpot with the water so the roots are spread out from the water and just fill it with the hydroton. I thought this sounded like a great idea because it cause the roots to be more spread out when pouring in the hydroton, and seems like dropping the hydroton in the water would have much less abrasion than just dumping them dry straight onto roots.

All that said, I just dumped them (gently) on and really didn't see any ill effects.
