Im growing Afghan Kush Ryder with CFL 30 watt*2 18/6

do I need to add more light & when
am I over watering? Do u guys think her too small for 21 days?
need advice ..

Yeah it looks a little small for 21 days, i would definitely add more light, 100 watts per plant is ideal. How far away are your lights? Only water when the pot feels light, make sure you let it dry out very good before watering again. Over watering starves the Roots of oxygen and stunts growth. Add atleast two more 30w cfls and lay off the watering, get the lights as close as possible.

ya i would say its probably a issue
drainage should be good with the perlite
but when you water do you soak the pot ? or just water the immediate root zone around the plant ?
if the pot feels heavy give it a week to dry up just check it around day 4 or so if it feels heavy then just water around the stem like 1/2 a cup
that way the top doesnt dry out too much
watering is very tedious for the first few weeks

i just add 2 more 25 watt cfl it about 8 inch far if i closer than this it will burn my lady
: )) thanks
21 from seed is from the first day i saw tow tiny leave pop up
I not sure when u guys start counting 1st day of your girl

You should be able to get 25w and 32w cfl's a lot closer than 8 inches to your plants, I run my 600w hps about 8 inches away from the canopy

I have to disagree with some of the above.

Light smarter, not harder.

First off, a seedling that tiny doesn't need hundreds of watts of light. That's enough for a whole garden; its complete overkill here.

Optimal lighting with CFL is maybe 70-100W/sq-ft. That plant is what, roughly 4 inches by 4 inches? So that's 1/9 of a square foot. . .one teeny 15W CFL is actually PLENTY . . .SO LONG AS YOU USE IT PROPERLY.

If you're using 30W draw CFL bulbs, you only need ONE (not more), and you need it about 2 inches above the top of that plant. Not closer. . .you'll burn the plant. If you have the ability to place said bulb inside a parabolic or other reflector to optimize its output, you'll do better, but you can "live" without that.

Second, if you're asking about overwatering, then yes, you're overwatering.

Again, a plant that small simply will not take up much water. In a pot that large with a seedling that small, you should only be watering at MOST every 3-4 days, and probably only once a week. As a rule of thumb, if the top soil in the plant doesn't feel dry to the touch you definitely don't need to add more water. If you can lift the pot and it feels heavy, you don't need to add more water.

On the quality of your soil, maybe its better than it looks, but I have to say, to my eye it doesn't look good at all.

What's with that bark in there? What are those brown threads? Looks like you started with some kind of really low end generic potting mix (or worse). Adding perlite to a standard mix is generally good, but if you add 30% perlite to sh#t, you'll still have a mix comprised of 70% sh%t. and your results won't be nearly as good as they could/should be.

If you want a recipe for a relatively inexpensive mix that I've had good results with, scroll down to post #2 in my Mexican "schwagg" thread here:

more light more heat
the faster that pot dries out
AKR's hit 3' fairly easy i really doubt even the light he has now will cut it
i start mine under a 400hps cooltube 24/0 never had them cry about too much light

idk about all that.. i use about 75w/sqf of customized LED which gives off about 87% usable. (and i still want more). now i could be wrong but i don't think cfl give off close to that.. plus the fact if you are not using some kind of reflector the vast majority of that light is shooting out in every direction but the plant.. i have been around growers for 22yrs.. i have never heard someone say they wish they had less light... and i'm not quite sure measuring your plant and dividing it by a sqf to come up with fractional sqf thus determining wattage is gunna take off.. but then again i have no idea what i'm talking about... i don't even grow weed i grow asparagus...

your soil is fine bud the plant shows no signs of nute issues you let it dry up and it will more than likely take off
and by time frame that plant is well out of seedling stage when the conditions are right it will shoot up and out
i bring the light closer at a week and its at optimal distance at 2 weeks
