Afghan Kush

howdy

I have a seed that has sprouted up and is in the pot that I'm getting it started in, I left for work this morning, and it was doing good, I get home and the plants leaves are laying on the soil, it is bent over and the root looks very weak, not healthy at all. I water the plant then I put some worm castings over it to cover up the root so hopefully it'll recover... My question is.. will it recover? Only time will tell.. but I can't wait that long

It sounds like it was over-watered. Small seedlings are very sensitive and over-watering will cause damping off of the roots, basically they're rotting from being too wet all of the time. It's probably time to just start over.

can't start over metal head, only got 1 afghan kush seed! Well, I hope it comes back to life. I will keep you guys posted.

I would say it is over watering as well but the thing is is that I am not watering it a lot. I also had this happen to a bagseed I was growing I kind of let it do it's own thing and stopped worrying about it and it stayed alive but I'll let you guys know. Thanks

hi guys, this is my update... it worked, kush is on the rise, it is only day 2 of me putting the worm castings on there but it did the trick, the root is healthier and it is standing on it's own. Thanks for the help!

Depending what you're growing them in, try to water from the bottom of the container. This will cause the roots to grow deeper as that is where the water is coming from. It also ensures that the water does not disturb the top layer of soil.

glad to hear it's recovering.

Make sure you have good drainage, a good light source, and water in liquid seaweed. That will promote a bigger & healthier rooting system. Also, spray with seaweed, that will strenghten the plants stem & branches. Streching from inadequate lighting will cause a weak stem. Also, use some wholeground cornmeal, that will stop any bad fungi, mold, rot, or scale....... Good luck.

thanks South Texas, I am going to look into all that stuff, right now I just using fish emulsion for the fertilizing, but I hear that is good for vegetation mode, I am about to hit flower mode, the pistils are coming out. What is a good fertilizer for that?

I would immediately get some "Rose Glo", molasses, liquid seaweed, Thrive, greensand, and epsom salt. The Epson Salt & Green Sand will give the Lady the proper trace minerials needed to develop healthy buds. The molasses feeds the microbs to breakdown the nuted so the Lady can eat a lot faster & better. The Thrive will further breakdown the nutes. The seaweed has 90 different components. The Organic Gardening world is amazed at how Rose Glo' works for all blooming plants. Your local grocery store will have your molasses, epson salt (in the foot care section) and whole ground cornmeal. The local Nursery will/should have the remaining shit. Big Box stores has nothing your Lady needs or wants. Kick Ass.

One handfull of cornmeal & Epson salt per plant, per grow is proper. Thrive, once per month. Seaweed-one capful & 2 ozs.(4 tablespoons) of molasses per one gal of good water-rainwater is best. Lightening during a rain storm puts natural Nitrogen in the rainwater. Go figure! Greensand last 100's of years, a heaping tablespoon per plant per grow. Foliar feed with molasses/seaweed mixture every 7 days, or so. With that, no spider mite problems because the stalk & branches will be so tough & strong, the mites can't bore into your Ladies outter bark. Maintain the feeding & spraying until 1 week prior to harvesting.Lava sand is good for plant, but also, it retains 40% water retention. Never use any type of peat, it's anti-microbial. Coco is fine. Lava sand & an active microbial life in the soil is better. That's what the molasses & Thrive is for.

thanks man, I have blood and bone meal but it's ground up in little black pebble deals and I got fish emulsion. I am growing tomatoes with it and use it with the tomatoes since I have heard Tomatoes love nitrogen, and I heard nitrogen is great for veg and bone meal is good for flowering.

U SHOULD TRY AND LOOK AT HOW THE LEAVES ARE LOOKING. IT MAY ALSO BE THAT YOU IT JUST NEEDS TO BE STAKED UP. USE A BAMBOO STICK OR A CHOPSTICK AND CAREFULLY PLACE IN THE SOIL (DONT STAB IN SOIL U MAY DAMAGE THE ROOTS) THEN TIE THE STEM TO THE STICK AND GIVE THE STEM A FEW DAYS TO GAIN STRENGTH. IT WILL ALSO HELP IF YOU HAVE A FAN BLOWING AROUND THE ROOM (NOT DIRECTLY ON THE PLANTS) AND THIS WILL STIMULATE THEIR NATURAL WIND ENVIRONMENT AND HELP THEM GAIN STRENGTH. MY AFGHAN KUSHxSKUNK I DIDNT HAVE THAT PROBLEM I HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH MY VIOLATOR KUSH THOUGH ONCE IT GERMINATED. ALSO CHECK THE SOIL LEVEL. YOU MAY HAVE TO ADJUST IT SO THAT ITS CLOSER UP TO THE COTYLEDON (THE FIRST SET OF LEAVES).

Thought you would never ask..... Lead a big-headed ass Mule to the water... OK, here;s the deal, also verify in the Library's "C' section at dirtdoctor.com. Whole Ground or Stone Ground, not that sterile "enriched shit. grows a Fungi when mixed with water, called Tracaderma. In the Gardening world, plants become afflicted with "white powderY Mildew", root rot, scale for Roses, etc. This Fungi from cornmeal kills off the bad shit,.. and, it's also a MILD fertilizer. One handful per plant per growing season. You can make a tea & foliar feed your plant if it's mildewey. If you have Athelete's "foot's", soak the dogs in cornmeal tea, or as one Dude does, pours it in his rubber boots while jacking around the house. Cool?
