aggressive amount of pistils in veg?

Ordered 10 regular wonder woman seeds from nirvana. All of them germinated and grew quickly. The plants are pretty healthy now and are about 6 weeks old.

One of the wonder woman plants seem to look very sativa dominant, one looks very indica dominant and the bother 3 are healthy looking Ind/sat mix.

The plant that is sativa Dom has a lot more pistils forming at sites than any of the other plants. Lights 18/6 . just took 8 clones from each mom to decide which pheno I want to keep. All have preflowered female...

How's come that one sativa Dom has a lot more pistils showing than the other plants? I'm assuming one being this aggressive is good?

Sativas show pistils a lot more aggressively indoors because of small root space compared to outdoors.

They tend to want to flower a lot quicker at younger ages because they are very fast growers and are usually 2-3x the height a indica plant would be.
A plant showing sex in veg stage is a good indication she is telling you she is mature and ready to be flowered, usually when they hit the bottom of the pot and have started to explore outwards.

Plants that show sex in veg show a jump start on plants that haven't when switched to flower.
Switch to 12/12 and notice within a few days you'll have clumps of white hairs instead of the normal 1-2 weeks.

Enjoy and don't let her get root bound or you won't be a happy camper.

I knew about sativa stretch, but I didn't know their root growth was different than indica plants. That's interesting. Gonna have to pay a little more close attention to her

I meant their root growth is different Indoor vs Outdoor.

They are use to spreading their wings and flying where ever the dirt takes them.

Indoors they are limited, so once they hit the bottom and start exploring they tend to show pre-flowers and start telling you to flip.

You'll notice when pre-flowers start to get larger than normal, you'll want to flower to avoid hermi just in case.

Are you adding Calcium Magnesium? Stress tends to lead to dramatic pre-flowering under 18/6. Constriction of the roots space could be a contributor But I imagine it is more likely a mild deficiency @ 6 weeks. There are all sorts of causes of stress and in my experience so far early pre-flower is a general stress related issue.

I honestly think the plants are evoking root bound in their current pots (I'm having to water a lot) and roots are beginning to show through the holes in the bottom. I'm most likely going to let my new clones root and start mothers from scratch with clones.

are you using smart pots?

That has happened to me since week 3 of vegging and I'm now in week 1 of flower.
Sometimes fabric pots aren't made with the best quality material and there are tons of holes that the roots squeeze out of and tend to grow until they dry up and die.

Fabric pots are suppose to suffocate the roots when they hit the walls and the tips end up dying, and new roots form.

No I am in plastic buckets.... Never seen a strain take over a pot quite like this one

Happened with my sage and sour, never saw a plant grow roots like it did, and its in a smart pot.
Plastic buckets are good, but they are the old way of growing, everyone uses smart pots or air pots now.
They grow and structure roots more properly.

from my own observations sativa hybrids often have a much bigger growth spurt during the onset of flower
this would include stretching and fast onset of flower and fast initial bud development
some sativa hybrids are literately covered in little buds in just over 2 weeks of 12/12
i have no idea why this is the case why they show early growth spurts during flower more so than indicas

indicas tend to have a large explosive growth at the midflower point 4-5 weeks in
this does not show itself as a stretch but rapid cola development

i notice most plants weather indica or sativa, most of the growth happens in growth spurts
they do not grow in a linear pattern
for example they may grow more in 5 days during a growth spurt, than they previously grew in 2 weeks during a non growth spurt phase

peace
