air through (2) 1000w Hps lights. exhaust out to where?

I have a fan intaking fresh air from the window through a small fan attached to 8" ducting that leads into the tent through the one side of one of our HPS1000w lights, then ducting to the second light, and then through the second light, and then more ducting out of the 2nd light's air oulet to outside the tent, namely my kitchen. is this look right? I thought the point of the fan intaking fresh air was so that fresh air would get inside the tent. However, my friend and partner suggests that this is how it is supposed to be. It may seem stupid, however to me it looks as though all im doing is intaking fresh air into the tent through the lights and then out of the tent. Is it just for the cooling of the lights or what? I suggested that we just cut out the ducting from the 2nd light's air outlet to outside the tent. This way, fresh air comes in, goes through both lights and it stays in the tent. Any advice, comments, or suggestions?

Looks good but I woudl vent in and out of that widow for the aircooled hood and then run a passive intake and carbon scrubber and fan to the exhaust

the point of the vented hoods is not double up as a intake and a light it is to pull all the heat the light produces and puts it else were other wise u would burn your plant and the room temp would get to hot but if the room is cold and u need heat then pulling one of the hose's wouldnt be a bad idea for heat

Sorry, but i had mine set up kinda like yours at first. I found the 2nd light was not being cooled as good as the first. where i could rest my hand on the first hood, the 2nd was too hot. Are you "pushing" or "pulling" air through ? If you are pushing, all the little seams and holes become heat LEAKS. if you are "pulling" air through , they become little suckers pulling heat in from around the hood. I ended up leaving 1 side of each hood open to room air (temp 72-76) . I use a 6" 424cfm fan with a "Y" in line to PULL air from through each hood seperately, the fan then "pushes" exhaust out through carbon filter in a window box. This helps create a "Negative Pressure" in the room. And why not let your cooling fan do Double duty? or do you like spending money for fans you dont need, probmxr265 ? Main thing is to keep good ventalation & circulation in your room so you wont need to add CO2. 1st pic is flower room, 2nd is veg room. You can see both hood open to room air and it works very nice. we get temps in the 110's during the summer here. my room stays going during the summer when most people around here shut down for the hot months.

yes. you will have excellent exhaust and ventalation. thats pretty much how i have mine flowing. You can put your carbon filter outside the box after the fan that way if you are worried about odor. You probably wont need an 'inline" intake fan with that design, but make sure you use a "can" type fan with a good cfm rating. i got my 6" growbright at htgsupply.com for 145 bucks, 424cfm.

dang i am such a NEWB! I also thought the lamps might've been not receiving equal airflow so i decided to leave it intaking fresh ail through both lights and out of the other end of the tent. But after realizing that i was still not getting enough fresh air into the tent, so i went with another small fan intaking air through the same tent outlet as the original air intake. take a look... thx 4 da info do.
