Airlflow directly connected to nute uptake?

I have four babies in DWC in flowering right now and I noticed something weird happening. The fan I have is pointed at my lights but a few leaves from each of the plants is catching a little wind. The thing is that only those leaves are showing signs of nute lockout. The leaves turn a pale green and get crunchy, sometimes along the edges,or in the middle, or on the tips. Im sure its not nute burn because I keep my ppm around 1000, aslo because no other part of the plant is affected. The only thing is that over the course of the day, my ph will rise from 5.8 to 7.6 so it requires constant attention. Im really good at checking it multiple times a day but the other day I couldnt attend to them and the ph got to 7.6. Over the course of about 4 days, about 7-8 leaves have been showing signs of nute lockout, but only the ones getting directly hit by the fan.

So my question is, is airflow directly connected to nutrient uptake?

I theorized that the excess airflow to those leaves caused elevated levels of production of sugars in the leaves, which in turn calls for more nutrients, which werent available at the time, so it caused the nute-lockout symptoms.
Is this correct or am I just really fucking high?

I know all the photosynthesis and ATP and glucose biology shit so no lessons please, Im just wondering if my plants are telling me to increase airflow and nutes in return for a fatter harvest. Anyone experiment with high/low airflow to see the effects? Im talking direct high power fan compared to common intake fans.

well we use dwc for the excess airflow its one of the reasons why they grow so fast an so large...so yes it is defently a possiblity that the lack of nutes in thery could cause nute lockout symtoms..

The fan blowing on the leaves may have an effect on nutrient uptake, but I don't know about any of your theories. :grin:

But I'll bet that fan was stationary, not oscillating. Any time you blow air on leaves constantly, it messes them up. Kinda like they can't breathe because the air is always moving. So I guess you could say that will suffocate them.

That's why we say to always use an oscillating fan, so the leaves are rustled, and then allowed to be still before being rustled again.

a stationary fan on the leaves causes them to dry out they cant transpire as well they cant pick up the mositure from the air. It dries out and gets crisp eventually dieing. put in an osciliating fan and it should take care of the problem

pretell are these leaves at the top of the plant? you said you have a fan pointing at your lights, and only some of the leaves have this condition. if these leaves are the top most leaves, then it sounds like you are burning your plants with your lights.

What is wrong with your PH is my question. Mine stays great for at least a week between res. changes.
