Airstone preferences?

For those of us WHO DO use airstones, what do you think gives the beSt results? I use the big 4" long "Large" cylinder style ones. Have thought of switching to discs though because I've heard they give much finer bubbles. Any ideas?

I've tried them all, no real difference between them. The expensive micro pore ceramic ones are a waste of cash unless you have a compressor or large blower to run them.

I use the disc's because I can set it directly under the netpot and let the bursting bubbles coax the roots into the water...in early veg obviously.

I use the cylinder ones but I just ordered some disc ones so that I can wait another day to change my res since it's so small. The bigger they are the sooner the water level will drop to the point that you'll need to refill the res.

Don't waste time with the blue ones, they're cheap crap in my experience

I have disc style ones - they're the only ones I've used so far, and I'm using two in a 10-gal rez. What I can say for them is when I open the lid to take readings, I practically get a soaking because of the amount of bubbles popping. The entire surface is rolling, so I don't feel the need to try out anything else.

Ya I bought some of the bar, pentagon shaped style blue ones. They just crumble and deteriorate after time.

I use the 4 inch disk in my bubble cloner for the fine tiny bubbles, and 4 inch weighted cylinders for my totes because the disks won't stick to my totes plus don't produce nearly the amount of bubbles.

Always buy salt water designed air stones ladies and gentlemen.
