Ak-48 Ak48 Ak 48 Nirvana (fem Seeds) Soil/Tent Grow 400w MH/HPS

Nirvana Ak-48 feminized seed grow.

I will give you a brief run down on my set up.

Glowlabs GL80 grow tent (31"x31"x72")
400w air cooled MH for Veg, 400w HPS for flower (lumitech bulbs)
4 gallon Air-pots (4 total)
Soil = FoxFarms Ocean Forest, light warrior, perlite ( I mix two bags of ocean forest with one bag of light warrior, add 1 cubic foot bag of perlite and 4 cups of garden lime)
Water = R.O water w/cal-mag added 1tsp per gallon
Food = Fox Farms Grow Big, Big bloom and Tiger bloom
Inline 200cfm fan w/Carbon filter for exhaust

Germinated seeds on 1-15-11. I soaked the seeds 12 hours in a shot glass, them use the paper towel method. I place the wet paper towel in a small plastic food container with several air holes cut into lid, place on top of Sat.tv box as it stays luke warm, seeds all sprouted in 24-36 hours time. I then use a humidity dome and starter tray and let them grow about 1 week untill I move them into thier air-pots. Veg growth was done with a 400w MH. I mist the plants twice a day only using RO water with cal-mag added at 1 tsp per gallon. These plants were very easy to germ and growth was rapid. I keep them on a 18/6 light cycle with temps of 70-75 with light on. My RH% was low at about 30%, but they seem to be doing just fine. I am only watering 1-2 times per week, but misting 1 per day.
Once plants had grown to 4-5 nodes I topped 2 of them just above the 3rd node and the other 2 just above the second node.

These pics were takin on days 10,15 and 20 of veg growth.

Week 3 of Veg. growth.
Plant got thier first dose of grow big and big bloom. Growbig @ 1 tsp per gallon and Bigbloom @ 2 tablespoons per gallon.
They seem to love the food, plants growth is fast and they are starting to show sign of sex. I vegged for about 30days, once all the ladies showed signs of sex I started the flowering process.

I learned on my last grow that I cannot let the plants to get big in veg, as when the flower I will not have enough room........I am hoping this grow will be a little better

Ok, let the flowering begin. Plants are going crazy, I trimmed off quite a bit of under growth about 5 days before I started the flowering, as to let the tops fillout.....something I didnt do on my last grow, but wish I would have.
I also let the plants have 24 hours of darkness before switching to HPS and a 12/12 light cycle.
Plants started thier 12/12 cycle on 02-19-11
Plants received a good heavy feeding of grow big and big bloom and seemded to love it, as growth was rapid the first week of flowering, they are streching and added about 6-8"s of vertical growth the first week of flowering.
All the ladies are really starting to show thier sexxxy lady parts/pistols.......its now day 13 of flowering.

Soil PH = 6.5-6.8 (if anyone wants to know, I have found that using RO water with a PH of 7-7.5 along with the lime added to the soil mixture things seems to be right on the money......and I have stopped checking my soil PH everyday..LOL. I have also learned from my last grow, that its easy to over water.......I am letting the soil get fairly dry before watering, I let the plants tell me when they need water now.....instead of me telling them they need it. Things seem to be going well.)

I will update this journal about once a week or so. Once the ladies start putting on some buds I hope to have some detailed pics to post.

I am hoping to harvest on or before 4-20-11

Update Day 22 of flowering

WOW, these ladies have really streched out. They all were about 10"-11" tall after being topped, but before the 12/12 flip. They are now over 24" and I am hoping they are about done streching as I am running out of room...LOL I had one plant that grew much taller than the other three and in order to keep the canopy at the same level I decided to supercrop the taller plant, this was the first time I ever tried it and I was impressed on how they reacted. The supercropped plant seemed to heal itself in about 3 days. I will try and take some pics of the supercropped area on the next update. I have been watering only twice a week, each plant getting 1-1.5 gallons per watering. I also mist each plant everyday about 1 hour before the light comes on with a mixture of water and Tiger Bloom (1tsp per gallon) All the ladies have gotten a full dose of big bloom (4 tablespoons per gallon) along with the cal-mag plus at 1 tsp per gallon on each watering. I have also givin them a small dose of Tiger Bloom ( 2 tsp per gallon) once a week and they seem to love it. I have a few leaf tips that show a slight sign of nute burn, but overall they are still very green. As they streched they also lost some of the lower fan leaves, but this seems to be normal at this stage of the game. I will try and post some better pics the next time I take them out of the tent for a inspection and rotation change. As you can see they are starting to grow some buds, and in the next few weeks we should see some nice nugs

Update Day 32 of flowering

I thought i would take some decent photo's since they are starting to have something worth looking at Ladys seem to be doing just fine, they are drinking up 8 gallons a week and i have been watering twice a week, each plant getting on average 1 gallon per plant per feeding. They all have been getting 3 tablespoons of big bloom each feeding along with the cal-mag plus @ 1tsp per gallon. I also gave them a dose of Heavy Weight (per carb additive) a few days ago @ 1.5 tablespoons per gallon. I have decided not to flush until the last 7-10 days, the plants seem to be doing well and I am not having any major issue, so providing things continue the way they are I will continue feeding big bloom at every watering and rotaing in Tiger Bloom @ 2tsp per gallon once every third watering.Temps have been 71-74 withe the light on and light out about 60, RH is 36-42% Hope you enjoy the pics, im not the best picture taker but these are the best iv taken...........even if the wife was compaing the whole time......afraid her laundry room might look messy, I asured her no one is looking at the back ground..LOL

Update Day 43 Flowering

Things are going well, the ladies are starting to swell up some and smelling great (very sweet, almost piney smell) . I cant wait to see what the next few weeks are going to bring as they have at least a few more weeks untill they will be ready to harvest. I have been staying with the same watering schedule (2 times per week, 1 gallon per plant each watering) I have been feeding Big Bloom (2tlbsp per gallon) with every watering and Tiger Bloom (2tsp per gallon) every other watering. They received thier 2nd dose of Heavy Weight(1tlbsp per gallon) additive last night, so I am hoping to see these buds fatten up I am unsure why one of the plants is so much taller than the others, as they all get the same feeding and light and I do rotate them inside the tent too. I must say the shortest plant has the best looking buds as of right now, as it looks to be a few days maybe a week ahead of the others. I am still hoping for a 4-20 harvest, but to be honest I think they are going to have to go a bit longer than that.....only time will tell. I checked them with my microscope last night and the trichomes are all still clear with a few starting to turn milky so I know I have atleast a few weeks to go. Update Day 54 of flower

Decided to take the girls out and snap some pics and give them a flushing as I have a bit of nute burn on some of the leafs. I gave them a feeding of Tigerbloom, Big Bloom and a light feeding (1tsp per gallon) of Growbig on the 9th. Looking back I think I over did it..LOL. I had a few leaves that were yellowing and thought maybe a small amount of bigbloom would fix the issue and it did, but it also caused the tips on some of the leaves to burn I flushed each plant last night and hope this stops the issue from becomming worse. Overall the plants still look great, the buds are still forming and growing and it looks like my 4-20 harvest date will be pushed back untill 4-27. I checked the trichomes with my scope and I have about 40/60 clear-milky and have not scene any amber trichomes yet and the buds have yet to really swell. The smell of these ladies is very Piney, I am hoping in the next few weeks they become a bit more stinky, as I love the smell of a dank bud. I will continue from here on out only giving them RO water w/cal-mag plus. I have been trying to judge my harvest, but I think I am guessing on the low side (about 8oz cured) The good news is I got a new grow tent (Growlabs GL120) and cant wait to get my next grow going as the added room will make growing 4 plants much easier. (lots of room to grow and spread out) This will be my last journal entry until harvest is done, I will take some pics of the ladies just before the chop and try and get some bud shots of the finished product. Hope everyone enjoyed the grow (even if no one really commented on it ...LOL) My next grow will be Blackjack by Nirvana, cant wait to get it going.

Update: Im done Total flowering time was 70 days, as you can see in some of pics I had a slight burn issue on some of the sugar leaves. I stopped giving them water about 5 days before the lights went out as I like to starve them a bit and give them at least 72 hours of darkness before trimming, well I got the flu and didnt get up and check on them the last few days the light was on, and I so wish I would have, as they looked a bit rough and a bit fryed........they must have been bone dry those last couple of days I didnt see any issues with the buds, just some of the upper sugar leaves were dry and crispy, over all I think it came out pretty nice. I only harvested the nice buds and kept the triming and smaller buds for hash making or keifing. I will post a smoke report and a total harvest weight once I have them dryed, finish trimmed and cured, but please feel free to guess the harvest weight and we can see whos closer. OK here comes the details and smoke report on my AK48 grow.
Now that I have had several weeks of curing, this smoke is really pretty nice. I might have let it go a few days to long in flowering, as it lost a bit of its bag apeal..........for the peeps that like bright green buds, but for the one that like buds covered in crystals and orange hairs this is it.
I had a total of 110 grams of grade "A" buds (cola buds that are dense and covered in crystals)
I had a total of 105 grams of grade "B" buds (smaller nugs, less denses than the tops, still very nice smoke)
I had a total of 115 grams of premo trimming and small popcorn buds that I will use to make hash.

So in all I think it went pretty good, I have a total of 7.5 oz of great buds and about 4 oz of trimmings/popcorn buds

These buds have a mild piney smell, that seems to only be getting better as they cure.
The smoke is tasty and smooth, taste = to smell, Piney
The High is long lasting and a mix of heady and body, but becomes more body as time goes on, seems to knock my ass out after a few hours (could be from longer flowering time)

Great smoke for kicking back and relaxing or needing a good nights rest.
Overall I give this smoke a solid B, its fairly tasty and smooth, very long lasting high, hits you pretty hard at first then mellows you out for a long realxing time.

Overall I would grow Ak48 again, its was very easy to grow and I didnt really have any issues......except over crowding in my tent.......but my next grow (Blackjack) should be much nicer as I upgraded my tent from the Growlabs GL80 to the Growlabs GL120 so my ladies will have alot more room to streach out
