Algie in resoviour help!!

hey guys i got some algie growing in my water res, its not light proof and it would be a pain to take the tank out and clean it. does anyone know of any solutions i can add to the water to kill it and not affect my plant when it gets watered and help would be great. thanks

I'm not going to bother suggesting anything other than light proof that reservoir. The algae will only come back if you try and get rid of it without fixing the reservoir first. No light, no algae.

Firstly, sounds like your temperature is WAY 2 HI! What temp. U at? 2nd-ly, you can easily cover the outside of the res. to block light out; try black plastic, spray on an adhesive which will tack this in place. Cheap and effective.
The only way to kill off algae is bleach but clearly that isn't something you'd actually use. I wouldn't worry about it unless it is really bad, out of control. The algae won't hurt anything if it is kept minimally. Hell, even fish don't mind. Natural condition of sunlight, water and warmth... You are going to have to keep your temps below 69*.

If the temperatures are too high then black coating on your reservoir is the last thing you want. Go with adhesive aluminium tape, most all hydro stores will sell it.
