Also i didnt really put this out to talk about it but i guess you can share your opinion of other facts you have, personally im pretty amazed that this has been available since 2001 and in my 2006 guiness world records book it says this this is the biggest signal every sent blah blah blah and that it hasnt been replied to yet which is like 8 years since this crop circle/formation has been discovered.

I believe they exist. Why crop circles though?

Wouldn't it be better just to send it back the same way?

I dont know, I read the whole thing. and the part about how some of it looks like the crop circle from chilbolto last time makes me think hoaxish. not 100 percent on what i think though.

I hate to be the rational one who rains on your parade but lets think about this for a second. You are claiming that in 1974 we fired a coded radio message at the m13 cluster, and in 2001, aliens came here and left a crop circle confirming that they got it?

Lets do some simple math here. M13 is 25,000 light years away from earth, that means it takes light (and radio) waves 25,000 years to get there. Last I checked 2001-1974 was only 27 years.

For the sake of argument lets just say that these aliens just so happened to be in a ship and were within a 13.5 light years sphere of earth and picked up this message. They then figure out where we are and start heading this way. Now the question becomes, how fast can their ship go? Lets say they are SUPER advanced and can build up to very close to the speed of light (can't go the speed of light without infinite mass and energy). To them the trip takes about 30 minutes, but to us it was 13.5 years (well close, probably closer to 20 but lets use "easy math"). So they are now pretty close to earth and observing us.

They know that we know how to use radio and since they understand relativity and would have something like moore's law, they would know that we are way passed radio by 2001. So the logical thing would be either to send a coded radio message back to us, or use a laser. Instead you think that a species capable of close to light travel is going to create a crop circle knowing full well how many hoaxes there are?

Of course this also raises another point. What would they want with us? Have you ever tried to make contact with an ant colony? Or how about try and establish trade with a group of wild Chimps? Short of them needing something that we have on earth (minerals maybe) they have absolutely no reason to make contact with us. The only reason I can think of would be for study or in zoos.

All of that was operating under the assumption that this message was picked up very close to earth. Mostly because the idea of any race spending 50,000 years to contact us seems a bit silly. Now, keep in mind that the people on the ship would only spend a few years or even months on the 25,000 light year trip to earth. However, here on earth and on their home planet it would be a 25,000 year trip each way. I know I don't place a whole lot of faith in the idea that the human species will still be here in 25,000 years. Why the hell would you launch a mission that you know has a very high chance of:

A. Finding nothing
B. Returning to find your civilization that launched it either gone or dead.

Also who goes on this mission? Would you go knowing that there is a 100% chance that everyone you know, all of your family and everyone would be dead by the time you came back? I mean assuming that a "generation" last 100 years (padding a little for advancement in medicine in the future), you are talking about 500 generations before you got home. I mean you could get a girl pregnant, leave, visit a planet for a week, come home, been gone for 10 days and meet your great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandchildren.

What makes you think radio travels slower than light? They are both electromagnetic rays and assuming you are talking about the vacuum of space there is really no difference.

I have this sitting right behind my desk right now, super interesting.

Hmm forgive me if im wrong. I thought it had to due with the frequency and wavelength being different between light and radio waves.

that article is badass man, thanks for sharing. i remember hearing about that binary message along time ago, but haven't heard anything about it till now. also have forgot about it, and haven't really been following it :P
but that is slick.. if they truly sent that message back.. which is possible, that is totally sweet..

i hope we make contact in my lifetime.. i want to smoke a joint with roger, lol ;P

this is for mathew :P

ya we do try to make contact with chimps, and other animals. don't even try to say we don't, we teach chimps sign language.
we teach dogs to communicate with the blind.. we teach rats to navigate wires through old buildings. we do in fact try as hard as we can to reach out
and communicate with things that aren't native to our language. that is a fact. the world market wouldnt exist otherwise.
we have people trying to communicate with tribes that have their own languages, just to see if we can learn about their culture..

and i like how you goto human to animal communication like the aliens are animals, or we are. intelligence seeks other intelligence. always has, always will.
we do in fact reach out and try to communicate and study other 'intelligent' beings.

advanced space travel requires warp, so you can instantly get anywhere you want via worm holes. plus space and time is curved and relative. so we don't even truly know anything about space/time.. we only have theories. they could KNOW.

maybe those crop circles are radio waves.. they have accounts of them showing up within a minute. they have videos of them appearing instantly.
and maybe they don't want to use normal radio and tv waves as not to cause an alarm of their pressence. Most people don't beileve the crop circles are real, hence no alarm to humanity. but the people that are actually communicating with them get the message clear as day.

just because i talk in sign language even though i'm not deaf or blind, doesn't make the message any less important.

i could be doing a stealth operation and have to be quiet and discreet. their communications could be illegal, so they are doing rogue operations to communicate and not alarm the feds on their end.

there is many reasons why they would choose imprints rather than modern day means of communication.

you can believe or not believe what ya want, i know there is other populated planets besides this one.. in an infinite universe of infinite gallaxies and planets , we are the only ones with the most intelligence? ya.. ok.

we see life spring up out of the craziest situations in the crazies spots on the earth. and that's just earth.

That is not communication, that is STUDY. There would be absolutely no point in an alien civilization revealing itself to us for the sole purpose of studying humans. Have you ever tried to establish favorable trading with a pack of feral dogs? How about try and buy a parasol of land from the flock of geese down on the lake? They have absolutely nothing to offer you in terms of technology. Maybe a better answer would be some of the tribe in parts of the world that have never been touched by "western culture". Sure we want to get in there and study them but there is no use in establishing trade. We are clearly superior to them and if we could figure out after observation that walking up and introducing ourselves would be a bad idea we would just study them from afar. The whole crop circle idea would be the equivalent of you drawing a picture in the sand of their village while they were all out hunting when it would be much easier to just come down and say him.

and i like how you goto human to animal communication like the aliens are animals, or we are. intelligence seeks other intelligence. always has, always will.

We are talking about a civilization that has ships that can travel close to the speed of light, they are to us we are to tool using chimps. Other than study there is absolutely no reason for us to "communicate" with chimps. We would barely register as a blip on the radar in terms of intelligence with a culture like that.

advanced space travel requires warp, so you can instantly get anywhere you want via worm holes. plus space and time is curved and relative. so we don't even truly know anything about space/time.. we only have theories. they could KNOW.
You have no idea what you are talking about... The idea of warping space/time and worm holes are 2 totally different things. A great start for you would be a book called "Physics of the Impossible" by Dr. Michio Kaku. It will explain the differences and talk about a whole lot of other things that will blow your mind. Keep in mind that we know some basic laws of the universe. These are LAWS, not ideas, or rules, they are LAWS. The speed of light is always going to be the same in a vacuum for aliens, and for us, period. You can not travel at, or past the speed of light, PERIOD. Now, relativity shows us that you if you were able to travel in a ship that moved CLOSE to the speed of light, time would slow down for you relative to me here on earth. So like I said, it might only take you a day to get to the M13 cluster from earth. If you spend 1 day getting there, 1 day hanging out there (not moving) and then one day coming back you will only be 3 days older. On the other hand the earth will have aged 50,000 years and 1 day.

maybe those crop circles are radio waves.. they have accounts of them showing up within a minute. they have videos of them appearing instantly.
and maybe they don't want to use normal radio and tv waves as not to cause an alarm of their pressence. Most people don't beileve the crop circles are real, hence no alarm to humanity. but the people that are actually communicating with them get the message clear as day.
Ok so a race of beings that can travel in space is going to chose to reveal themselves only to stoners and nutjobs? I find that very hard to believe. Do you know anything about the electromagnetic radiation spectrum? I can only assume you don't by your statements. Also most people don't believe in crop circles because there is no good evidence for them and tons of evidence pointing to them being man made. This is why religion is losing so many people today.

just because i talk in sign language even though i'm not deaf or blind, doesn't make the message any less important.
I guess they don't have punctuation and capitalization in sign language huh? Also, what the hell good would ASL do you if you were blind?

i could be doing a stealth operation and have to be quiet and discreet. their communications could be illegal, so they are doing rogue operations to communicate and not alarm the feds on their end.
Oh buddy, put down the bong, you are done for the night.

there is many reasons why they would choose imprints rather than modern day means of communication.
I think I have made it pretty clear why that would never happen.

you can believe or not believe what ya want, i know there is other populated planets besides this one.. in an infinite universe of infinite gallaxies and planets , we are the only ones with the most intelligence? ya.. ok.
You don't "know" that there is life outside of this planet any more than I "know" that you are an uneducated stoner who will believe just about anything simply because it is on the internet. Knowing and believing are 2 totally different realms.

Also there are many theories about the universe today. Ever hear of the "Big Freeze"? It is when space just keeps expanding and starting at the center, the "objects" start using up all their energy. Soon the bodies in the center have absolutely no movement going on are are hovering right around absolute zero. Like a plague this freeze grows larger and larger as the various stars and planets run out of energy.

we see life spring up out of the craziest situations in the crazies spots on the earth. and that's just earth.

We have never seen life "spring up". We find life in some pretty crazy environments (called "extremophiles") and I am willing to bet that withing my lifetime we will create "life" from "non-life" in lab. Also check out the theory of panspermia, it is the idea that life developed from non-life somewhere else in the universe and was then "planted" here by a passing body.

The International Space Station is technically a time machine, they age something like 1/10th of a second slower than we do on earth.

If you did have a space shit that could travel close to the speed of light then you could go "forward in time". Most of your time would be accelerating up to your cruising speed but you could make it across the galaxy in a matter of weeks. When you got back hundreds of thousands of years would gone by but you would have only aged a few weeks. Going back is going to be the hard part though......

you are totally wrong, you can go faster than speed of light in many ways, warping spacetime (causing instant teleportation), making a shield of these particles called something with a T, forget what they are called but you can basically make a shield out of it and use it to go into black holes. Otherwise aliens wouldn't be able to go into black holes and use them.

So you wouldn't lose any time going anywhere, dont give me this 50k year stuff, you can also manipulate dimensions and go backwards and forwards in time, i saw a clip of a top secret nasa photo book that had American satellites on mars during times were noone thought it was done yet, and a bunch of other crazy stuff, some photos were from a man who got taken back in time by aliens and ended up in the prehistoric period and managed to take pictures of dinosaurs and the earths moons, it had 2, the aliens told the man that the moon that we currently see is neither one of those 2 moons. (and no im not 100% sure this video is real, i always look at stuff with a possibility of doubt but it seemed legit and what not)

And you seem to know nothing about aliens seriously, if you watch a nasa video, one of the sts missions sts-80 i think, the one with the broken tether, theres like 300 ufos flying around that and they spawn in a few seconds, they are all over the universe flying past earth every second its just that we arent developed enough to be allowed into space with all the diseases we have on our planet. Aliens also arent able at the time to reveal themselves to the human race and cure our diseases.

Also about the crop circle, there could be a few reasons for this, we wouldn't be able to understand anything else, they know the people who receive the information will suppress it (USA and pretty much any government.......)

Now with crop circles there are differences, you can actually tell the difference between crop art made by humans and crop art made in a few seconds and with mutations and other scientific shit. Crop made by humans doesn't have radiation, is broken (aliens can bend crop 90 degrees) and takes vast amounts of time, now if you ask crop circle makers they take pictures and publicize there art and if you ask them why they do it they will tell you for much other reasons, not to trick people at all.

I'm sorry for piling on with the skeptics. I know you didn't want us to preach about this. I hope there is intelligent life out there, waiting to communicate with us. I don't think it's with crop circles. Here's why:

It looks like that there were two crop circles: one a similar message as we sent and one of the 'face on mars'. It's clearly a face, but I'm not convinced it was intended to be the 'face on mars'. The article mentions it so here goes.

Now, if the aliens could see Mars that well, wouldn't it look like a mesa, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cydonia_Mensae? Now if they meant to put the 'face on mars' in a crop circle, then it must surely mean that they have knowledge of our culture and knew how important that image would be, that is, that it's not just a mesa. If they have that kind of knowledge, then why would they have communicated using something so questionable.

Furthermore, how would they know we wouldn't be offended by creating a message that destroys part of our food source? If I wanted to convey my peaceful intent, the last thing I'd do is to vandalize crops, however small the amount.

I'm sorry. I think there is something to aliens, but I don't think crop circles are it. I hope I'm wrong because that would be cool.

Well as far as i know and for anyone who believes in UFOs and first contact etc... first contact was made a long time ago, like 50 odd years ago, and we have already struck a deal with "bad" aliens and rejected the advances of the "good" aliens.

As for folding space and time this would actually be more easily achievable than reaching light speed or even near light speed all though the only theory i ever actually saw on this was in the film Dune and they used aliens on drugs to fold space and time:mrgreen:

Nothing against you orangefrog, or any alien computer geeks reading my keystrokes, but I seriously doubt that an intelligent life form would respond to a signal from this planet with a binary patern in a crop circle.
If you also consider that the vast majority of crop circles discovered have been shown to be fakes, I'd say this one was done by some bored systems engineers one night while drinking mescal and sucking on lemon and salt...
