I have been planning on starting a grow for about two months now, and just this weekend I drop my first bag seeds in rockwool to setup for hyrdroponic grow. I already have my pump and dripper setup, now I just need advice on lighting, nutrients and a few other quick questions. I will be constructing my own grow box out of durable wood from Home Depot or Lowes. I want to only grow about 4 plants to start my trials. The grow will be in an attic with no air or ventalation or anything, just a empty wood slab attic, so I will need my box to have as much air as possible and make sure I get good temps. I already have mylar for the walls in the grow box. Help would be much appreciated, and please no opinions, but facts and proven attempts please, and I will name my plants after the ones who help the most. I will also be posting pics frequently so feel free to give advice.
Question #1 - What lights to go with?
I will be upgrading to HID about 3 weeks into the grow, but for now I want to use Floursent, I just don't know which kind to get. I have heard T5's, I have heard 45w CFL's, I have heard and seen 150W Floursent at walmart. Which will get the job done effiently for basically throughout the vegging stage.
Question #2 - What kind of air and vent.?
I hear about all kinds of different fans and shit, but don't know nothing about that. How will I setup for ventilation? Also do they have like a fan or AC unit that is small enough to fit in the box and keep temps cool at an exact temp. Do I need squirrel cage or vortex, and how do I duct them as far as air flow. A chart would be nice.
Question #3 - What kind of nutrients are proven and basic?
I don't mind gettin whatever nutrient(s) that will do the job, but I want to keep it simple and to a minimal, any good recipes.
Question #4 - How many times a day should I water and for how long per watering cycles, timers will be used?
I believe that is all the questions I have to help me get started. Mainly about the lights because I want to pick some up tomorrow. All the help is appreciate and will be returned once knowledge is gained, also I will name my plants after the ones who help throughout the grow. Thanx World
