well, are you flowering??? if not, then you shouldnt be seeing alternating nodes...
if you go 12/12 befor the plant is mature this is true on the other hand if you veg a plant long enough into maturity pre-flowers and alternate nodes are plenty to be seen. this you would normaly find after 7-10 weeks veg strain dependent

growem green--------------spike.

true; but i didnt address that as he is "working on his 8th node"... its not really old to be matured to the point of preflowering... good info though

ive been reading that you shouldn't flower until the nodes start alternating for maximum yield and thc

I think it just depends on the plant I have 16 I started all at once. 9 weeks into veg and only one plant has alternating nodes.it has 13 nodes and number 11 is where it stars alternating

I have 2-3 week old seedlings that have had alternating nodes right from the start...I think it's more strain dependent than anything else.

alright so nobody knows how many nodes it takes to get to the alternating nodes then
Out of 3 different strains I've got going, 2 of the strains were alternating by the second week I would guess (which I thought was unusual). But 1 of the strains still isn't alternating after 5 weeks... it just seems really variable.

It's strain dependent…I've got a God's Gift at 6 weeks that has just started alternating nodes, but my Pennywise of the same age hasn't. Jillybean started alternating at 6 weeks.

These are all sativa-indica hybrids. If you've got a purer sativa, it might take longer.

Thats like the owl asking how many licks to the center. The plant will start alternating nodes when it's mature or forced to flower as mentioned. This time is strain dependent, but somewhere between 4-8 weeks it will happen naturally. If you document your info about this you can help the next person.
