Am i doing this right??

Can someone please help me out here...? I am just starting to grow at home and i really need like a good coaching at this, because the more i read on here i keep gettin the feeling that im not doing this right so, if someone would be kind enough to kinda coach me along i would greatly appreciate i!! thanks.

i am growing two plants in a small closet. i have two 40w T15 florescent bulbs two inches over the plants. i have a small fan in the closet. i have a small heater in there as well. i am lining the walls with aluminum foil (is this a good idea?). and i am giving the plants 18 hours light and 6 dark. any pointers? and i will post pics as i can.

Any specifics on what you are confused about. If you could just give us a quick run down of your exact set up including lights, strain, size of room, how many plants, hydro or soil, which nutes you are using, how often you water, and how old your plants are right now (including veg or flowering) we can give you some suggestions.

Don't do the foil they produce hot spots and uneven light, go out and get either mylar, black and white poly, or paint the walls white. Get more light; that light may do ok for now but once you switch to flowering (12/12 light) you will need more lumens. 18/6 is just fine for lights. Why do you need a heater is it really that cold in your closet?

haha lmao! its not that cold in there yet but it will be cuz my room doesnt have a heater vent going to it for some reason... idk but i have one plant that has just sprouted. my walls are already white but i still think i want the 2mil mylar. im gonna buy some more lights too, but how can you tell how many lumens a light gives off...like does it say somewhere on the box or sumthin?

i have sta-green soil and it says it has crystals that retain water to reduce over and under watering. im gonna buy a four site hydroponics grow system as well. i will get my closet's dimensions posted today(later). oh yea should i take everything out or like block off half of it cuz i still got like old metal from welding class, shoes clothes and my set up. but yea i need to kno how much to water them and now that i think about it i have drowned out like 15 seeds trying to germinate them. i have done it b4 but i have tryed other ways that i have seen on here and youtube and they failed.
