you will know when its flowering after it has shown its pistils at the branch "joints". If you see two pistils coming out of the branch joints then she is flowering. Look at the pic to see...

Mine are about 4 1/2 feet also, been flowering since 2nd week of July, and I think yours have more foliage than mine, but I can't tell any flowers.I think general consensus on mine is that they're a little behind schedule if going by calendar date, but here's pics from last week for comparison.

get rid of the male unless you don't want to smoke any of whatever grows
I learned the first day reading here, males are like a rubber with a hole in the end of it, nobody wants them except for a select few.

Ok I just looked at the plants I have all females and one male what should I do with the male?
If you want to support yourself with regular seeds, keep one of your females and the male separately from others. Or if your aim is buds, then kill the male.

I say go for some seeds with one plant. They look nice enough to seed one and keep the ball rolling for free.

I usually get a few seeds even when I pull the males. I live in the country, so ...

Not enough to ruin the weed, thank goodness, and I use the seeds :)

yeah man your gonna have more seeds then you can handle well i mean more than i would ever possibly want get rid of the male if u want some seed save some pollen from the male and just pollinate one branch its a waste to let them go full seed no one needs that many seeds

Everyone knows there are five stages of grief. This applies to finding a male when you don't plan on breeding...

Denial - "It can't be a male, it's my best plant! (or I planted only fem seeds!)"

Anger - "Goddam it, another male ..." :wall:

Bargaining - "Maybe if I let it grow, it won't be too bad ... I can make some hash ..." :weed:

Depression - "This plant represents 50% of this year's remaining crop"

Acceptance - "If I pull it now, the other 50% will be 10x more potent and make up for it. :)

Op appears to be at the bargaining stage.

lol... I stopped at the bargaining stage, I kept him seperate and when the female started to flower I watched the male with a very close eye and took care of it just as pollen sacs appeared as if they were going to open.

He currently sits dried awaiting a batch of butter :)

you could have just taken a cutting off of him and put it in a glass of water over a glass plate in the window and let the sacks open on their own so you have some more viable pollen :/

I collected a fair shake of pollen when I dried him out ;) A sheet of newspaper under him when he dried out fetched a usable amount IMO. That pollen now resides in my freezer.
