I dim way down, I'll quickly get paling leaves full blast. Way stronger than I need :)
I don't have a watt meter on the X2, but I run the X6 at 150w to 230w, from start of flowering to the end respectively.
About a third power :)

cool man, thanks again for all the info.

i'll be honest, last night i did more research on the samsung f series strips and they are very tempting. i am mostly considering the strips for vertical light with a couple of cobs overhead. at least 1 strip in each corner of the tent. maybe 4 more in the future. at about $26 a strip+driver+aluminum for mounting+wiring, i can probably make 4 of those for $200 (i think, still need to learn more about the drivers).

in a 4x4 tent, running 2 cobs like yours or the tasty leds linked above AND an f series strip in each corner of the tent should do great. i'm sure they would out do my current 600 hps.


but what i am really starting to dream about, lol is:

8 vertical f series strips putting out over 65000 lm
+
4 horizontal f series strips putting out over 32000 lm

for a total of 97000 lm !!!!

You could build a better light for less. You could use newer CXB's and instead of using 2 cobs, use 3 or 4 and run them softer. The benefit would be being able to be passive (no fans) and it would spread your light out more and fill a grow space better. 50w per cob or even less is all you need.
If you're into saving even more money, build a light using Bridgelux EB strips or Samsung F-series strips. No expensive heatsinks, just build a frame using angle aluminum and mount the strips to the frame. Strips offer an advantage over cobs in that they offer better coverage and cheaper start up cost. Both options have excellent efficiency.
hey there friend these ss f series strips u speak of , can they be powered by an led lriver that is a ip 66 , my ss v1 &v2 qb's are both powered by meanwell hlg 120h54a which is an ip65 i tried hooking this sloanLED IP66 driver up to the qbs and nothing happens so i research a bit and relatively seeing ip66 are used for the strip style of lighting but havnt seen any leds too eye catching for it until u mention these samsung f series strips i kno first hand the work and denseness their bin puts out! !
