Another mass shooting.

I can agree the laws need to be changed. Some more restrictions. Something needs to be done about the fact this guy should have never been sold this gun.

My argument is that there was a failure somewhere. Its saddens me that when a person that is a clear threat simply walks into a gun store and walks out with a gun.
What clear threat did the Vegas shooter show? He had ten assault rifles with bump stocks.

It's a very small round delivered at very high velocity meaning it has greater kinetic energy than most larger rounds. The round is designed to cause "liquefaction" which creates a shock wave that pulverizes tissue. That's generally not the objective of a hunter. It is the objective of a killer.
I prefer the small rounds like .223 and .243. Liquify the heart and the meat is fine.
Your ignorance is astounding, there are very clear differences wether you choose to see them or not. I have faith that Americans will come together with or with out you to solve this problem.
I'm far from ignorant. I just don't agree with you. All guns assault. I won't support an outright ban on them.

I've posted the pic here before. Most any gun can be made to look scary and hold large capacity magazines.

The vegas shooter didn't show signs of being dangerous that I know of.

Yes, but not all of them are specifically made for killing people, just assault rifles, hence the term assault rifle. You having a military back ground should know this more than anyone. So Yes, yes you're very ignorant.

"Thoughts and prayers"...

I think this is hilarious because...they were shot in a church, I don't think God is listening anymore ;)

You actually saying that not all guns are designed to kill people? All guns are designed to kill. People or animals. Not much different.

I fully understand what an ar15 is capable of doing.

Long guns kill less people a year than short guns. Most crimes are committed with pistols because they are easy to conceal.

I doubt "assault" rifles will be banned. If anything is done it will be like the last ban. The ones out there will be left out there. It will just be illegal to sell them.

Do you think its the gun making people go out and commit these mass shootings?

Why are these people doing it? Its a problem. What's causing it? Its not the gun. If someone wants to kill a bunch of people they will.

Why wasn't a gun used instead of a van in NY?

I don't want crazy or dangerous people to have access to guns. I'm for closing gun hole loops. I'm for background checks. I'm ok with banning bump stocks.

I don't want people killed. There is a problem but I don't think its as simple as blaming assault rifles.

You: I don't really see any difference between 80cc dirt bike and a top of the line Ducati. They both have two wheels and go vrroom! Derp, derp, derp ,derp ,derp...

Answer the question.

Do you think the gun makes a person go crazy and kill people?

Or do you think they are crazy and d3code to kill a bunch of people and decide to use the gun?

Do you think they would decide not to kill a bunch of people if the gun was not available?

Say derp all you want. All guns kill, period. Pistols kill way more people than assault rifles.

You have a very limited knowledge of guns. Most hunting rifles were once war rifles or based on a war rifle design.

Take away the stock, fore grip and 30 round mag and an ar is nothing more than a hunting rifle.

You now sound like some of the people on the news. It was a semi automatic used. No shit. Everything except black poweder, most shotguns and revolvers are semi Auto.

How do you expect me to have an intelligent debate about gun control with someone who doesn't even know the difference between a tactical assault weapon and a hunting rifle?

Not much difference. I hunt with an ar.

Change the stock and slap a 30 round mag in my other hunting rifles and they would perform just like an ar.

We can't have a serious debate. You seem to think assault rifles make people go crazy. I can only assume that since you won't answer it.

You sure assume a lot for a dumb fuck.

A Ford falcon will perform like a mustang if you just change all the parts over, derp.

Here you go ya gun totting Jesus freak, a bit from slate magazine.

The AR-15 was designed in 1957 at the behest of the U.S. Army, which asked Armalite to come up with a “high-velocity, full and semi auto fire, 20 shot magazine, 6lbs loaded, able to penetrate both sides of a standard Army helmet at 500 meters rifle,” according to ar15.com. When it entered Army service in the 1960s, it was renamed the M16, in accordance with the Army Nomenclature System. “AR-15” came to refer to the rifle’s semi-automatic civilian equivalent. From 1994 to 2004, AR-15-style rifles were subject tothe now-expired Federal Assault Weapons Ban. Since then, the rifle and others like it have become tremendously popular. Last month, I estimated that upward of 3.5 million AR-15-style rifles currently exist in the United States. People like the rifle because it is modular and thus customizable (one article calls the AR-15 “perhaps the most flexible firearm ever developed; in seconds, a carbine can be switched over to a long-range rifle by swapping upper receivers”), because it is easy to shoot, and because carrying it around makes you look like a badass.

But the AR-15 is not ideal for the hunting and home-defense uses that the NRA’s Keene cited today. Though it can be used for hunting, the AR-15 isn’t really a hunting rifle. Its standard .223 caliber ammunition doesn’t offer much stopping power for anything other than small game. Hunters themselves find the rifle controversial, with some arguing AR-15-style rifles empower sloppy, “spray and pray” hunters to waste ammunition. (The official Bushmaster XM15 manual lists the maximum effective rate of fire at 45 rounds per minute.) As one hunter put it in the comments section of an article on americanhunter.org, “I served in the military and the M16A2/M4 was the weapon I used for 20 years. It is first and foremost designed as an assault weapon platform, no matter what the spin. A hunter does not need a semi-automatic rifle to hunt, if he does he sucks, and should go play video games. I see more men running around the bush all cammo'd up with assault vests and face paint with tricked out AR's. These are not hunters but wannabe weekend warriors.”

Sure.

Why only care about guns though? Your statement can be applied to something as simple as cars and Tylenol.

This guy should have been turned down for the gun. Fix that problem.
There's a big difference between car accidents and gun deaths. Deaths from cars and drugs are, 99.9% of the time, completely accidental. Many are caused by defects and failures as well.

A guy mowing down 500+people in cold blood with his only intent being death and destruction isn't. A guy walking into a FUCKING CHURCH and flat out EXECUTING PEOPLE PRAYING isn't either.

And you're going to compare that to a trucker falling asleep at the wheel on accident after driving 19 hours straight and killing two people?

To compare to two makes you a complete jackass of the highest order.
