Any advice on my poor beaten-up mothers?

We've been trying to get started up here since spring, but have been unable to grow any viable clones - they all just died off before generating any roots. I've discussed that at length in another thread here, so I won't repeat myself.

My thinking now is that the mothers have been too unhealthy (tall, spindly, brittle, and with a lot of leaves yellowing after growing out) to support viable cuttings. I believe this is due to severe malnutrition - feeding them on very high TDS well water (>750ppm) and without proper/controlled nutes, though we were pH-adjusting the water. I also think we were overwatering them (they're in dirt). Now I've cleaned up the water supply and we're adding some two-part veg nutes and cutting back on the watering schedule, and our thinking is that mom needs some time to get healthy before we try to do a new batch of clones.

In the roughest of terms pulled outa the asses of the experts here, what kind of time scale should we be thinking of for recovery? A couple of weeks?
