Any DWC guys not change their res?

Anyone just top off your buckets with ph'd water and enough nutes to bring the ppm back up? Getting sick of carrying buckets of water up and down stairs weekly.

Thanks!

I'm sure I'm screwing up. But my first DWC was started a month ago and I not only have not changed water, this White Widow Auto is wailing and I added some bloom nutes. I know I should change it bit I broke my back in 5 places in 1981 and I'm with you lugging water upstairs. If she dies I learned. Her roots are unreal! Using AN Sensi Series, VooDoo Juice (that makes her stink) and B-52. But then I started out by just giving 10 ML each of Grow A&B and waited. pH was 5.5, PPM were around 145 and she was a 1" seedling. Came home and she might have been bigger. 10 ML each again and PPM was up to 245. Got home the next night and she was mos def bigger. So 5 ML each and the next night - went from there. Added the VooDoo Juice and B-52 and the roots went wild. PPM is now 720 or so, pH is 5.7, RO water only and it's hard enough slaking her thirst every day now. Good luck.

BTW I am reading daily, aware of root rot and fungus etc. I also check daily on the roots and res solution. My buckets are all solid Gorilla Tape covered top, sides and bottom. Blacker than my first wife's heart. Either gets funky or even funny it's changed. 7 gallons of pH treated RO water on standby.

until the point where all of the built up salts and unused elements poison the plant and it falls over dead in 2 days.

Time to grow in dirt is sounds like , a lazy grower gets nothing in return ... Buy a hose and youll never need to carry water again ..

I wouldn't consider my self a lazy grower. Just a stoner. I also have a balance disorder which makes it a pain in the ass sometimes.

My previous grow was done in 5 gal dwc buckets. I didn't change the water during flowering at all. Just used an add-back calculator and kept the ph in check. Came out great!

Lol, this is a joke right? Numerous people have taken plants from start to finish with no res changes, and I'm one of them...

This might make sense for a small time grower, but if you are mixing 60+ gallon reservoirs tell me how much money it costs for a fresh res change once a week?

My first attempt at growing using D.W.C. was shockingly smooth.
After mixing a solution of 20/20/20 miracle grow(700ppm) into an
18 gal tote, I only added ph balanced well H2O for 8 wks. All 3 lived, but one truly took
over. When they didnt croak after months of neglect and stood 36 in(smallest one was dwarved. Finishing at 15 in)
I flowered.
Realizing I was on to something, I started paying more attention and did some more research.
Finallly changing the res to flowering nutes. Only kept an eye on the H2O level till I flushed. I havent grown a nugget as large since. It was 3ft long and
3 beer cans thick. Made me a believer in the bubbles.
Got lucky.

i have 4 50gal res's and it cost me less than one dollar in nutes per ounce of harvested bud. not a bad return.

Come on now, you know that is bullshit.
how can it be bullshit? you have x amount of water with x amount of nutes, not all nutes get
taken at the same rate. water level goes down you add more water and nutes, what happened to all of the unused elements? they dont magically dissappear. they have now changed the percentages of the new nutes and it keeps adding up. element or salt toxicity, check it out.

That might be an issue with a big rez, but the amount of water being used in a dwc bucket is great enough to where the adding of plain water and/or nutes would happen much more often, overall replacing the entire volume of the rez.

I change my rez when I add back half as much water as the res size.

So for 20 gallons, when you've added back 10 gallons of water (dont add more nutes) you change the res

I don't change my rez unless my ph swings too much and my grow came out great. Could it come out better if I change my rez every week, well maybe but it's working well for me thus far. I use a modified lucas add back formula to get my desired ppms.
