I hope both pics dled.... I put the pic of the actual bag up just so incase someone new happens to try to buy some seaweed or kelp meal.. They know not to get this brand... I ordered KELP MEAL.. And alfalfa meal... Got neither... From a local feed store... Well i was so excited when i got it i didnt even really check.. For one this is seaweed meal.. Big diff... Two it must me some kind of animal feed due to the crazy high salt content... And oh... The alfalfa meal... Was seeds... So yea.. I was so pissed i didnt go back and get the one thing he got right .the barley seeds... But i thought of composting it.. But wouldnt due to the salt... Idk what would eat it..my old rabbit wouldn't... Think its for horses... But i kinda thought this... If i could somehow rinse it?...do u think i could remove that salt or a good deal of it.. Its like powder also so i may have to get creative... Any ideas would be great

No doubt.. Should make good poop.. I was hoping my rabbit would eat it.. That would have to make good... Shit.. Lol... I dont think adding stuff w that much salt to a pile would be very bright either

Mix it in your soil or steep it in water. Why are you worried? I would assume one of the seaweeds if not more are kelp. Fairly sure the salt content is about on par with others as well.

No.. Its not.. It has much much more salt than a normal kelp meal.. And iv looked it up, its not made of kelp.. The scientific name is on the lable.. The reason im worried is the salt... That's the only reason im worried ..im not doing anything that will hurt my microbal habitats... I thought if i put it in a new compost pile and let it be in there for a year or so it might be ok.. But even then i dont like thw idea.. It doesnt have the same level of nutes as kelp.. Idk how many trace mins it has either...

Im sure it would be beneficial if it wasnt loaded w salt... Its an animal feed is why its so salty in sure u know... I was totally bsed by the feed store guy..i asked for kelp meal.. He said he had it at a supplier.. Had to order it... Well when it came, like i said, i was really excited and didnt really pay attention.. Kelp is a seaweed he said... Right.. It is.. But its still not what i ordered... And had to pay for.. And he even messed up on the alfalfa... Seeds instead of meal... But thats ok.. Cause in planting the fuck outa it... Gonna make some awesone meal from it and pick it while fresh to use as a green input... Ill just do what i did last year and get some rabbit feed made from alfalfa to use for some teas and maybe add a lil to my mix

Maybe possibly im incorrect about the Na level of kelp meal... I had asked a fellow grower in here about it and he had said ir had way more salt than his kelp meal.. Im looking up my maxicrop meal mineral content and it says it has like 4.1 or something... I need to figure it out.. You can actually smell the salt in the seaweed meal and not my kelp meal... Idk though... Maybe i have some decent shit here..i will be honesty.. Before i checked the levels of it i put it on as a top dress and in a tea on a few plants when i got it and they straightend out and looked awesome.. But then i got worried about the salt... Ill ask around or do some research and see if im missing something..

Most kelp wont show salt content as it isnt feed grade but seaweed will have higher amounts of salt I believe.
Well i lookes up a Ga of kelp meal.. And it had a sodium % of like 4.1 something!... I posted a new thread about it to maybe draw some attention to it... Idk if its the same as the NaCl or what.. Im looking up what i can on it... My maxicrop doesn't have a na ir nacl % on it... But maybe i can get some good answers on the whole Na vs NaCl vs just sodium.. Im not exactly sure about it..

A field guide to economically important seaweeds of northern New England

http://www.noamkelp.com/technical/handbook.html

"The main uses of Ascophyllum and Fucus are as fertilizers, soil conditioners, and sources of micronutrients in animal feed supplements."
"In northern New England, rockweeds (Ascophyllum spp. and Fucus spp.) have been collected for use as fertilizer since colonial times."

Its def some good shit for your soil.. No way around it.. Kelp, compost, castings are at the top of my list.. Along w some kinda poop lol... For soil amendments anyways besides aeration which im not really counting.. Aeration is my biggest % in my mixes
