Any Indoor Growers Supplementing With UV-b?

I use an incandescent reptile bulb specifically made for UV-b. I only have one back-to-back grow comparison, with and without UV-b from 5 years ago. Two back to back grows of NL#5. Second grow was with UV-b and was too strong for the wife. She preferred the previous NL#5 without the UV. That's sure as hell less than a scientific study, but that's all the personal experience I have. I started this based on a lot of reading and discussions with growers on several forums 5 years ago. Still no lab proof that shuts everyone up, but there was enough evidence for me to try it. Cost was low and not a lot of electricity or heat so WTF. I tried it and have been using ever since. Just curious if any other indoor growers had any experience using UV-b

not sure if this is similar, but there is some special blue-'type' bulb (can't recall name right now) that is only made for 400 ballasts. supposed to great spectrum for plants. anyone hear of this?

Given that I'm building a new grow facility, I looked at CMH. Reviews are mixed. It's full spectrum, but some say the large spectrum is nothing more than you'll get from HPS / MH during flower and veg. The added spectrum from CMH doesn't get used by the plant so why bother. Again, so say the critics. I wasn't overwhelmed to turn my 1000w concept to 2 CMH. I haven't looked at it any more than that, really

do the UV lights. report back. should up your cannabinoids, mostly THC.. and some flavonoids and terpenes, they are the plants natural deflection of uv light.this is why sativa is grown near the equator as opposed to higher CBD strains which is more dominant in the northern and southern parts of the globe.. .....the more you know....

i run hortilux blue 1000watters the first 2 weeks of flower and the last two weeks of flower and the inbetween weeks are hortilux hps 1000watters i definately feel that it makes the buds a lil more frosty and more compact .. just remember that the glass on a reflector blocks the UV so if you do this with air cooled reflectors with the glass in you wont notice any difference

That Blue Hort lamp drops output at ~ 380-390nm, so not much if any UV-b which is 280-310nm. That's why I use a specific UV-b lamp

Yea I looked at doing this but found that the range of the cheap bulbs are useless for it. The good ones were expensive although this was last year when I was looking at it.

I seem to remember the bulb (looks like a standard outdoor floodlight incandescent bulb) was $65. Included the ballast. I used a chicken coop light hood with a clamp. I have a timer for 60 minutes on, then an hour off, over an 8 hour period that is centered around midday for the flower period

i'm using the 400w cmh for veg and have had great results...however previously I was only using a 250w mh so i really can't say its faster than a 400w mh!

Cool that you like the CMH! I just took a peek at that spectrum and it looks like it digs a teeny bit lower than the Blue Hort, but really the output of these HIDs does not include significant UV-b

Just sexed 7 reg seeds with the 400w cmh and got 100 percent females..don't know if it has anything to do with the light but its awsome!

3 of them are the fat purples and the other 4 are Rare Dankness Afgahn Faceoff! I'm excited to see these two strains in flower
