Any knowled on using Batteries only?

I read a thread about a week ago and it said he was using batteries he would charge at work then use at home and things like that but i cant find the thread now. But my real question is, is it true and if so does any one have any info on using batteries ie. what kind, where to get them, is it worth it?

I'm an electrician. The idea is insane, on many levels. Unless you are willing to install several solar collectors on your roof, forget it. It would cost about $4000 to make a solar grow big enough for one square meter. So it is pretty cost prohibitive.
