Any reputable online equipment suppliers you'd recommend?

I asked this in the Deal thread but figgered a new thread might draw more responses.....

Just as a general rule of thumb, are there some highly regarded greenhouse/growroom suppliers online that have discounts/deals, great product selection, solid advice, great customer service, and/or cheap shipping?

As I look for info, I've run across GrowersHouse, MonsterGardens, GreenTrees Hydroponics, for example. Are they good? Are there better? Anyplace, wholesaler, retailer, coop, buying club..... are there some companies we should absolutely know about to get our growroom equipment/nutes/supplies?

(And, conversely, are there some I should absolutely avoid with a bad rep?)

Horticulturesource.com has one of the biggest selections out of all of them. In the end though I always use Google shopping as my go-to for price checking since they have a great price-compare tool.

There's also alibaba.com where you can find the Chinese manufacturers for ballasts/bulbs/tents and the like and pretend to be a reseller to buy "samples". The hi-freq DE ballasts for example you can buy for ~100 per ballast + 30 DHL shipped to you compared to ~200 for a DE rebranded ballast.

I strongly advise against Greentrees AKA hydroponics.net. They don't know how to pack mixed shipments, their store branded stuff is the worst chinese crap, and if you have a complaint about damaged/failed items they will block you from their web site with a message that says something like "down for maintenance". Clear the cookies and the site comes up fine.

Edit: I also notice that they have evidently been dropped by Hydrofarm as a vendor. Not a surprise.

Monster gardens gives good video but their prices run high. So with what Joespit, BShillington and Bluerock advise, plus my own digging (I compared prices on a 4'8' gorilla tent and a gavita ballast) I come up with Sunlight Supply Inc (a wholesaler), Virtual Sun Hydroponics, Growers House, Horticulture Source, Greners and HTG Supply. With the added advice to check Alibaba an eBay for certain items.

For the worldwide net, that seems a bit thin, but I appreciate the responses.

Gotham Hydroponics. Hands down my favourite online shop. I have purchased numerous items there, big and small.

Great pre-and-post purchase communication and service, expedient delivery, etc.

They've got an eBay store. Check it out.

I ordered from growers house a week before xmas. Got to me quick, was the best prices u could find for what I was buying (600w hood+light+digi ballast). Was also happy that they boxed up the hoods box even if it wasnt the best pack job (It was a big ass box and they did their best). Just happy it didnt show up in the original box with a big pic of grow light on it....have heard horror stories and when I grabbed it the mailman just left it on the step instead of puttinh it in the porch, lazy fuck.

Note: One thing to keep in mind with all online vendors is that you have to think about how the items you are ordering are going to get along during shipment. Because all of these places I have dealt with just toss the stuff in a box without any thought as to what will happen on the truck. If you order, say, a meter, a bulb, and a quart of floranova, the floranova is going to beat the piss out of your bulb and meter during the journey to your location. If you are lucky, they won't be damaged. The 'pick and pack' people filling these orders don't give a shit and that isn't going to change.
