I quit posting photos after the last time I went to prison on a felony manafacturing conviction. Hard to stand on your fifth amendment rights after posing photos on a public forum. Hard to find a lawyer that will represnt you after posting photos om a public forum. It is just akin to signing a cofession.

Define malcontent. If you mean I am not sheep or a follower. That is quite true. Am I judgmental, crititical, pessimistic, anti capitalistic, tactless and without many refined social skills. Yep that's me. But am I well educated, very experienced in many areas including having over 35 years experience growing pot, and do I know what I am writing about. Yes. I do not claim to be nice or sweet.
Gotcha; apologies for my previous post, I spoke out of turn - no bad feelings, huh?

And I responded to your PM.

It amazes me how some of the people here act like there is only one or two ways to do something. I do this all the time. When i got to flower i only change it once at the 4 week mark and then when i flush. And i have NO problems at all. ITS A FREAKING WEED not rocket science. Stop acting like you created the WEED and knows exactly how it feels. And all that blah..blah talk about " Oh It needs to get an oxygen bath" Lol That was funny. Like i said I go 4 weeks before a change but i also top it off every 2-3 days with fresh water.

Dude, you need to look up the defintion of weed. Marijuana definitely does not fit the definition for a weed.

I have driven drunk before and not gotten in an acident or killed anyone. I have driven through a residential neighbor hood at speeds that were excessive, and I did not run down a playing child. However, just beacuse I got away with taking those huge unnecessary chances without bad consequences does not mean I should foolishly recommend others take those unnecessary chances. I do not recommend anyone take such chances with their plants just because it has worked before for someone else. It is just to big a risk for too little potential gain.

LMAO:lol: Did you really just compare growing some WEED to you driving drunk through a residential neighborhood at high speed drunk. I'm gonna allow you some more time to come up with a better analogy. Cause that one sucked and proved nothing but how you suck at comparing things.

Yeah, I'm not sure that analogy works. Gotta be honest, the reprecussions of not changing your reservoir aren't exactly on the same plane with drunk driving and speeding through residential neighborhoods.

I've gone 3 weeks a month, no problems. I've also gone 3 weeks and had problems that a flush has corrected. It's all going to depend on how well you can keep the nutrients balanced, how clean you keep the reservoir itself and prevent things like bacteria from building up. There are tell-tale signs of that though so you should be okay.

Watch for smells and strange ph fluctuation. If for some reason your PH is going DOWN daily instead of up for instance. You know something is wrong.

The analogy is in reference to not changing your reservoir being a bad risk just like driving drunk etc.. Duh! You are so very lame, and sophmoric. :finger: Now that lack of brillance explains the ludicrous statement that marijuana is a weed. Now that is a really lame statement. :dunce:

LMAO LMAO LMAO Please just stop it all ready. Out my post, the only thing you could come back at me with is calling "lame and sophmoric" and a "lack of Brilliance" cause i called it a "WEED". You have officially hit the wall. :wall:

FATMAN please DO NOT respond back to my post. I don't care to go back and forth with you on something I KNOW can be done. PEACE

Yo LASERBRN, i glad someone understands what can and cannot be done. Cause FATMAN acts like he's the one who created it.

Just to keep everyone in the know, I installed my R/O filter....................my pH and TDS beforehand were 7.5/150, and afterwards, it's at 8.0/3.

Not sure how the fugging pH went up (as the main reason I purchased the filter was to throw away my pH down - that's clearly not happening, but such is life).

Hey guys the longest I ran without a reservoir change was 4 weeks in ebb n flow with coco (botanicare) and the plants were really good, due to some circumstances i had to take my system apart so currently i am just hand watering.

For 4 weeks I just kept topping the reservoir with r/o water with nutes. I am growing in coco. The nutes I am using are cashcrop by dutchglory. I am assuming that certain nutes will be better for low to no reservoir changes.

I know folks that follow the lucas formula have tried this with success.

Any input on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I have changed the res once since the plants started, and it was when they were very young and I overdosed them on accident, changed it before they were harmed.

The most important thing is to keep it cool, keep the organics from becoming nasty, and making sure the plant is eating the nutrients and not just drinking the water, in which case you need to add more water with no nutrients.

Its all about metering and knowing the quantity you have and need of which nutrient. Although I have just switched to flora nova so at this point I'm unsure of whether or not the plants will make it another 6-7 weeks without a reservoir change if they are on an organic one part for 6-7 more weeks. any input on that would be great (I haven't changed it in about 4 weeks and there is no slimies or anything inside, no apparent need to change, no rot, tons of oxygen 20w/3 plants magnetic pump). the regimen has been gh flora micro/bloom and sub-culture m, with a little kool bloom. Now it will become floranova bloom, sub-culture m, and koolbloom and possibly some gravity or kelp additives a little later on.

I am really glad I started this thread, it got a little emotional in here. Anyhow everyone has their own opinion, and they have a right do practice their own beliefs.

Both sides (regular rez change vs low to no change) have made some excellent points. I have two small identical rooms, in one I will not the change reservoir for the entire grow to see how it compares to changing it ever 1-2 weeks.

Too ludicrous to warrant comment. :dunce:
Is that why you sent me 4 incredibly rude, non-informative, pretty much ignorant private messages? The only thing you successfully did is attempt to insult me with juvenile and incorrect statements. And you are a hypocrite.

You're a pompous prick, man. You tell me to get real. I tell you to get a life.

Do this at your own peril. I attempted this last grow and ran into some serious problems every time at about three weeks which happened to be when I passed the 55 gallons of addback water. Every three weeks or so I would start having nutrient deficiencies and would be forced to change out the res. Not sure what was locking up, think it may have been phosphorus. This was using an ebb and grow with a 55 gallon reservoir.

After the first five days or so the growth would slow down and become nominal and would stay there til the reservoir was changed. This time, Im running Lucas again but am changing out my reservoir every week. The difference is stunning and every time I do a change out, the plants go into a growth spurt. If I had a lot of time and money, I would be changing out twice a week.

Look at my grow journal in my signature, just posted some pictures at four weeks and as you can see my growth is stunning. This time Im using 7-10 gallons a day whereas last grow I went through about four or five gallons a day. Fresh nutes make a huge difference.

One thing you can do that I have done in the past is a half reservoir change out. Dump half of your reservoir every week, they seem to like that a lot, worked well in the past.

Just my two cents worth.

I know this may not be directly related to the topic at hand, but I feel it must be addressed. It's frustrating to see people argue over whether cannabis is a weed or not, when both sides of the argument have it completely wrong.

Definition:
WEED: A plant considered undesirable, unattractive, or troublesome, especially one growing where it is not wanted, as in a garden.
So cannabis is not "just a weed". Every plant can be considered a weed if it is undesirable or unwanted. A corn farmer who's field gets overtaken by cannabis plants would consider it a weed by the true definition. For us on the other hand, it's a plant, because we desire it, we grow it, and we care for it.

Nah that guys just a spiteful old man with a dictionary and no friends.

As to the cannabis weed thing, I need not digress into it. Its so fundamental and simple and doesn't need to be argued over. This guy is just major wack attack... he can't even succeed in insulting me! And believe me he has been trying with that big engineer's brain of his.

Im growing organic in DWC. I was gonna try to go my whole grow without a res change. I just started flower now and still havent noticed anything terribly wrong - Im pushing 30 days now...

I figure that organic can go longer because there are less inorganic salts building up. (ie. my nutes are balanced but I have yet to exceed 1000 ppm on my hanna meter)

Also, I dont really worry too much about "pathogens" because the nutes I use (Blue Mountain Organic) contain microbes that are supposed to be good for the plants - perhaps these microbeasts are competing with the toxic ones and keeping the res hospitable?

Can anyone who has had problems related to not changing the res describe them more specifically.
