Growing orchids from seed is difficult. Orchid seed does not have any stored food. The seedling must get its nutrition from some other source. Orchids grown in cultivation are sown on a sterile nutrient medium containing everything the seed needs to grow. The seed must be disinfected and sown on the nutrient medium under sterile conditions. The seedlings are grown in a sealed container for a year or so to maintain sterility.

If you are set on raising orchids from seed you can buy flasks of nutrient medium that have seeds pre-sown so you do not have to set up a clean room just to sow your seeds. There are also services that you can send your seed to and they will sow them in a sterile flask and return the flask to you to grow the seedlings from that point on. There are even services that will raise your seedlings to flowering size then send them to you.

Depending on the type of orchid, flowering can be expected in 3-5 years from seed sowing.

Let me emphasize again that growing orchids from seed requires special equipment, knowledge of sterile technique and lots of time. I don't want to discourage you but you should realize that orchids are not even in the same ballpark as cannabis or tomato when it comes to growing from seed.

I second the above, you totally CAN do it, but it's not a great idea if you're new to orchids. You should probably go with already grown orchids and learn to care for them first, then go for growing from seed!

Where can you get some pre-sown orchid seeds?

The link below is a good starting point. You will have to do your own research since it is not clear what you are interested in and there are about 30k orchid species and uncountable hybrids.

Seedlings in flask just need correct temperature, light level (fairly low light for most) and day length. The flask supplier may indicate what conditions are required especially light level and temp. However, you should do your research to make sure you see all of the alternatives.

Since the flasks are sealed and are only opened when it is time to transplant the seedlings the care of seedlings in flask is minimal until time to remove them.

Just to give an example, I visited an Orchid nursery in Fla and they kept about 40 flasks of seedlings on a rack in the main office. Right light and temp and the staff were could easily inspect the flasks every day.

http://www.orchidmall.com/supplies.htm - this page includes a dozen or so Orchid flasking services.
This YT video is pretty good on flasking -

Do a search for Orchids on YT and you will get a weeks worth of mostly good stuff about growing Orchids.

I warn you, Orchids are addictive. I once had a collection of over 100 plants. I stopped at 100 because I had no more room. At the time I would have just kept collecting until there were no more plants to collect.
