Anybody Ever Grow Tobacco?

I am growing some organic virginia tobacco, and yes it is legal if you are of legal age to possess tobacco. I also have some seeds for nicotiana rustica which has a nicotine percentage of 9% compared to regular tobacco(nicotiana tabacum) which is 1-3%. The intensity of nicotine is said to actually make you hallucinate. I have yet to try it and my seedlings i had in the spring were destroyed by squirrels and I just NOW got around to planting some more. I only have one nicotiana tabacum surviving and the squirrels have been nibbling it to shit. here is the picture,

Grows wildly around here, so would be hard to make illegal. I have heard though to properly dry it takes about 2 years.

You could be right. I think that it has to be cured, then fermented, then aged. at least for a proper tobacco smoke. i'm sure that you could smoke the shit after a couple days if you dry it like weed. but i dont think that this is how it is done.

This is kinda off topic but have any of you seen the movie Thank You For Smoking? Theres a part where one of the tobacco lobbyists were kidnapped and stripped of thier clothes and stuck probly 100 nicotine patches on him and dropped off at the lincoln memorial barely alive. Great movie.

ive been thanking about growing it in my backyard but im not sure if it will grow in centrul fl,
any body know of it will?

I wanted to.. But I heard that you really need to cured/aged etc it for a very long time ( 6 + months? ) . It would def save me money though.. At least 200.00 a GD month.

You need to grow a heckuva lotta plants in order to fulfill a smoking habit. If you think MJ loses a lot when it dries then you will be blown away by how much a tobacco crop will shrink when fully dried and cured.
I can't remember the exact numbers but I remember when i read how much it dries out I quickly lost hope in replacing buying tobacco. Here in Ontario a good pack of smokes can cost $10+.
