Anybody have experience with general hydroponics drain to waste feeding schedule?

What’s up guys and girls,

I have used general hydroponics in the past several times with good results. I was running it on a recirculating system though. In order to keep my ph from fluctuating out of range as much I Switched some things up and I’m doing a drain to waste now.

I have looked at the drain to waste feeding schedule that general hydroponics has on their website. I am using the full line up.

just wanted to get some input on the feeding schedule they reccomend and if anything should be adjusted.

My girls are just on week 2 veg so it’s still early. Should I start them on half the recommended dose?

yuo should try just the 3 part by itself. most of that other stuff isnt' needed IMO.

i do DTW with GH maxi series. a kelp/humic mix and Epsom. that's all

Hm yeah I’ve never tried using just the base nutrients before. Maybe I’ll give that a go in the future. I still have a good amount of all the additives from my last run so I was hoping to use those up since they aren’t cheap. Just going into it a little blind cause I’ve never used the schedule they have online and my old schedule was totally different. Thanks man. Appreciate the feedback

yeah, that was kinda my point. it would save you money especially doing dtw.
and i love dtw. no more worries about pH.
if it helps, i feed 1x/day at about 0.6 EC.

yeah running recirculating can certainly be a pain because of the ph. I use rockwool too so I’m hoping the drain to waste will save me some headaches. Looking back on grows I’ve done majority of the the headaches were from always having to adjust the ph in res or fixing issues that stem from the ph fluctuating. So I won’t miss that haha

what do you use for medium?

i do dtw GH waterfarms actually. took all the pH headaches and having to watch them 24/7 out of the equation.
now i go away for 2 weeks w/o problems.

and medium is a mix of hydroton and growstones.

Oh nice. Never tried that before. 2 weeks away with no issues sounds amazing though! I’m really trying to lock things in on this run. Just got my hydro x in from trolmaster for the flowering room. So environment will be perfect and I’m adding co2.

I ran gh 3 part plus some additives for a long time, I usually follow the bottle recommendation and not the online calculator. I found the calculator or recipes were just too low ppm. What additives are you running? Fwiw in veg after about a week or 2 I’d be at 10ml micro, 15ml grow, 5ml bloom per gal.

I am using the full line. Just gotta scoop some diamond nectar tomorrow and I have everything for veg and I need some flora nectar and I’ll have everything for flower as well. Using the micro, gro, bloom, rapid start, armor si, Cali magic, florablend, floralicious, liquid KoolBloom.
Havnt ever tried the dry KoolBloom or florakleen yet.
Holy shit yeah I have never gone that high with the base nutrients before. Especailly a week or two into veg. Just seems really High. What ppm does that put you at? You run RO water?

Only additives from gh i used was liquid kb which i liked, armor si which i started using about a year ago and like it, powder kb which i stopped using when they changed the formula, and florakleen. If you look on the bottles the recipe i stated is what they recommend for full strength. I think with just the 3 part at that strength was about 1000ppm if im not mistaken, and not ro water but pretty close at like 50ppm.

the 3 part and Cal mag is all that you need...

i'm more hardcore by just using the flora trio series at all lol

This plus Diamond Nectar. I noticed a huge improvement with the Nectar. I’ve only tried the 3 part, the 3 part with CalMag, and the 3 part with CalMag and DN. Going to try the full lineup next run maybe 2 from now.

Never tried it , maybe the next time I'm in the shop I'll pick a bottle up.. what kind of improvement did ya see mate ?

I had lockout problems before the Nectar addition and right when I added it the plants gladly ate up anything I threw at them. I was getting lockout and all sorts of weird stuff at only 50% strength before I added the Nectar.
