Anyone ever induce flowering early in your outdoor crop?

I was thinking about doing a little side grow/experiment this year and inducing flowering on a few plants early. I know it's a lot of work but I don't mind the challenge. Has anyone ever done this? How did it go? Any advice? What's the best way to block all the light? Thanks and happy growing this year everyone.

i started inside and got the plants to start flowering first, i waited until it started to stretch then went outside, not sure if it was good or bad bc i did it with everything that year it seemed to help but it did take a week to see anything change after going outside so it might have reverted back to veg for a few i dint know. it was when i was just starting and got a good yield even though my area had a huge bud rot issue that year, tomatoes were impossible to grow that year to.
i wouldent do it again with that said, if you have the room start them now and go the real season and let nature do its thing, your going to have nut issues most likely either way since your trying to extend the flower period, by issues i mean not enough most likly but then you may over feed and not get the fade. monsters are a much different breed than the little guys most are used to

I have done early forced budding/harvest outdoor and it was awesome to have a mini harvest of over a pound of "Old School" Northern Lights in June.

I'll give you a nickles worth of free advice.

There are many ways to force plants to flower in the spring/ early summer, simply cut the light to 12/12. There are many ways to do this.

A. Move plants in pots into a area of darkness and out put back into light each day. There's a method to this that if followed works awesome and simply requires that you can place your plants into darkness at between 5:30pm and 6:00pm, and put them back outside anytime after it gets dark, from 9:00pm to dawn, as long as they are back outside for daybreak. You need to be very consistent about the time the plants are placed into darkness. You can put them into darkness a little early and it would be like a natural cloudy/rainy day when it gets psychically dark about 30 to 45 minutes earlier than a sunny day. You do not want to be late putting them to bed/darkness. You want to be consistent that they have 12 hours of darkness. Varying the light cycle to much/ beyond what happens in nature can cause the plants stress and some strains of weed are sensitive/prone to become hermaprodites which will pollenate the plants creating all XX chromesone seeds which will be all females because their was no true male with XY chromosome, only a shocked female that thought it was dying and pollinated itself to keep the genetics alive in the form of daughters, as if it ran a default program to back up its genetics when it sensed an altered light cycle.

Another way to do this is to have a light barrier that you can use to shield the plants from light.
Placing a large trash barrel over a plant every night at 5:30pm and removing after dark so it will get the normal morning light on natures timing cycle.

Its all about being consistent every evening around 5:30-6:00pm for 6 to 8 weeks. Is having a spring harvest worth being consistent for 6-8 weeks? Hell ya it is!!

Got any questions, I'll tell you what I know. I know this, if your even considering doing this you have already decided its worth it because you know you want the weed and you want it now! You have already reached the next plateau, "Desire", now you need to work on the "Practical Application" to reach the desired result "Awesome Spring Harvest"

So now you must ask yourself the question, "Do I want the Spring Harvest? Well, Do Ya? If you want to do this should begin NOW!

Do you have the ability to start seeds indoors and grow them under lights for 30 to 60 days.

Some questions you need to be able to answer:

What date can you safely put plants outside over night without risk of frost? From that date you can start to bud them outdoor if they have been started indoor and grown under light for 30-60 days.

This is the basic idea, more detail is needed about what the strain is ot give more info on harvest date. My Northern Lights was done and dried by the 4th of July, Started budding them May 1st, they finished the last week of June, 7 weeks, picked while the trichomes were still mostly clear, which gave the weed a much more "Energenic High" instead of a "Couch-Locked Stoned". Having about 600gms of Northern Lights for the 4th of July was awesome. Lasted right up to fall harvest. Was it worth it to shuttle 6 plants every night from May 1st to the end of June? Hell ya it was! I looked at it like it was my second shift job. Took me 15 minutes every night but payed over a pound of Northern Lights worth over $6000, which is equivalent to getting payed $100 a night, every night for 60 nights, only instead of money you have the equivalent in weed, which you could sell...

I gave you something to think about, if you can find practical solutions for all the things I listed above then get a plan, or ask for more advice. If you want a strain that has low odor while growing you want Northern Lights. I had a house full of it and even the grow-room had very little odor, house had no odor. Super potent, foundational genetics, low odor, incredibly forgiving, excellent low maintenance, Bullet Proof Strain, great for beginners.

Cover the lower half of the plants fan leaves with a clip on plastic trash bag for 8 weeks for 12x12 to force flowering or define sex, remove in the morning to allow sun on plant

:joint:We made a rack that holds 6 tree buckets full of clones. I slide the cover over them about 7:00 in the evening take it off the next morning at about 9:00. Works real nice. Way cool to have fresh weed cured and ready to smoke come trimm season-------------good luck everyone---mike:hump:crocshots3 001.jpg

Thanks man It was my wifes idea. Made the rack out of scrap shit i found arround my shop. I would like to make a black tarp for the little greenhouse in the last pic. Six fulsize plants would be nice a month or so early. If someone dares me all do it I will . I sure like our laws here in cali. No limit imposed in mariposa yet ,but my well isnt good late in the summer any more them 50 and I run my well too low by oct so that dicktates my number not the man---goodluck---mike

Wow great post my friend! I want whatever strain you were smoking when you typed all this out lol. Anyways Thanks for the advice. I know it is a ton of work and consistency is most important when doing this. In the end though like you said it is well worth it to have a nice early outdoor harvest. Just something to hold you over until the main harvest in October. Of course I am not going to do this to all my plants. This will be a side project. I can't wait for the frost to be over with. I already got my soil pile composting away. Picked up 500lbs of Rabbit manure off craigs list for $50. GL this season everyone and let's keep the discussion going on this topic I find it very interesting and new :)

Na dont need to buy lights. Some dickhole dared me to fill a 40 ft. cargo container with lights in 1999. thats how all this started-------mike

I do it every year starting in June and I harvest all summer long. As I am in a legal state, it also allows me to tinker with my plants counts and maximize yield and variety for my patients. I use pvc stuck on 30" long 1/2" pieces of rebar pounded into the ground and black plastic. It is cheap and easy to put up and works great. Happy Growing, Larry

If I veg a plant 18/6. Turn lights of fir 36 hours and place them outside will they flower due to the sudden light reduction even though the day length is increasing outdoors?
