i saw an old friend ,fellow grower from whom i recieved the beans i am growing,i saw one of his plants in a 5 gal.pot.not 1 leaf on it .still 3 or so weeks left.he says it makes buds bigger.i ve never removed a leaf that was still growing so who is right?---he said leaves block the sun and removing them gives everything to buds

Well, my buddy thought the same thing, after reading about it in High Times, and when I gave him some of my clones, he tried it. My plants and his, were the exact same age, about the same size, except that he removed all the fan leaves during flowering, both using same soil and 600 HPS. Well, my yield doubled his, and it was VERY obvious that those missing fan leaves were the cause. I should add that he removed too many at once, or at least that's my theory(after having done it once myself.lol), and that I've seen nice plants with alot of foliage removed. I'm just not a fan of it, never seen the reason to do it, introducing risk, when not necessary. I do remove a leaf here and there though, but mainly use LST to open up the plant, rather than chopping leaves. Does the trick for me.

^I agree with ya there, but in the case I'd described, I'd just fucked up a few of my own plants, by getting carried away chopping fan leaves. Trust me, the difference was dramatic, compared to the plants next to them. Then, I tried to warn my buddy, but he wouldn't listen to me til he tried it himself. Needless to say, he doesn't chop his off anymore, either.lol

Maybe it has to do with timing, maybe it has to do with how many you cut at one session, idk. I just never seen a reason to experiment/investigate any further, being that I'm quite happy with the results I achieve. I remove the lower sets of branches, and a couple fans leaves (1-4 per plant), and leave it at that. Doesn't mean it's the absolute best way, it's what works for me, for now.

I recently COMPLETELY defoliated a 4ft mother plant I was messing around with.. Though it is not in Bloom of course, I could only Imagine it would slow bud growth & promote more time growing new leaves.

Likely has alot to do with timing....

I don't touch my plants after 4th week of flowering. I likely should have said that too...

I also don't "go to town" on trimming off leaves either.... Just take off what I think "needs" to be taken off.. and it works well for me.
