Anyone seen this?

New seedling, germinated in 1 and half days in paper towel then transplanted into PHed rockwool, root is already thru my clay pebbles and net cup in my aero mist. As you can see 1 of the cotyledon leaves never made it, and the first true leaves look chewed up. I have no pests anywhere that I can see. It's only been 3 days since it popped thru the rockwool and seems to be growing fine, just curious if there is something causing this mutation?

Yeah that's kinds what I figured too, just never seen it before on all the seeds I've popped in my lifetime. Seems to be growing fine so I'll just wait and see, thanks for the reply.

This was today..growing awfully slow but there are new leaves in center so o have hope!
Slow growing...you have a runt perhaps, I have one in flower now. It looks like it will produce 1/2 of what a normal plant will.
You might want to start another seed and see how fast it passes this one, then you determine if you want to keep it.
Good luck

Do you have trusted genetics from a trusted source?
I believe so, I think they are fairly new called Phinest cannabis, supposed to be pretty good. I've never used them before my homie bought a few different strains and gave me this one, called PB Soufflé. Looks really good if I can just get it to take off, growing too slow for my taste atm.

So it being a runt, it wouldn't matter if I vegged it out and took clones from it huh, genetics are genetics right and clones will grow slow as well? I'm gonna wait it out and see what she does once these new leaves come thru and go from there..I really want this strain to make it for me.

24 hours later...new tips look good and tap root is finally getting feeder roots, hope the slow start was just from the first leaves being messed up.

I hope so for you brother!

Nowadays with the booming cannabis business, breeders are crossing strains and coming up with new funky stuff that are most of the time not very stable and not tested for long enough. Its not only about the seedbank, but up to the breeder releasing the seeds - if i come across a funky name/picture or whatever, i research the history up to the breeder. And if its a breeder i know of, then i am willing to try unknown strains. For example, you can trust seeds from DJ Short - experienced breeder and he would never release unstable genetics. (Blueberry comes from him).

In my years of growing, i came to the conclusion that before i look at any other stuff like tents, lights, controls etc, cause i grow indoor, my trusted genetics are of prime importance, even if it means paying a bit more.

Good luck and lets cross fingers, those new growths are the start of something exciting for you.

Keep us posted!

Thanks for the kind words, I have 3 strong strains that have been super reliable over the last year and I'm always searching for that next "kind". Its a fun hobby for sure and still learning everyday! I grow with HPA and recently thinking of building an under current system to change things up a bit, not sure yet if it'll match my current yield but I'm willing to try to keep things interesting ya know.

Keep the runt! I always keep one. It looks hilarious with its half Oz of bud and "mini-me" genetic makeup, in a grow room of full size bushes! I used to chuck em but what's the point in leaving a tub and a space!

I moved from my aero tent to my dwc veg, thinking my ES300 was too intense for the little guy which might be why it's all stunted..who knows. This is her today slowly crawling along

Some seeds are just slow to go. Always best to buy double the amount you need and pick only biggest and strongest. You might be surprised tho. I've seen rungs catch up with full sizers. I've also seen them totally dwarf themselves to a solo cup size!
