anyone try sure to grow media?

well if you use that stuff you wont need rw/pellets. but it looks kind of like solid flytocell. good stuff. try it out and post a journal so people can follow along. it looks like good shit man. and you only have 1 medium to deal with.

Well I orderd some of the pre formed cups, Ill have to shave em a bit to fit my 3" net pots but thats no biggy.
I will say this : Damn that shits expensive! I also ordered a bag of the loose fill to stuff the hole w/ since its too large for starting seeds.
I plan on posting a journal w/ reg updates but im tight on cash right now. I should have the last of the needed materials in 2 weeks.
Ill be growing barneys farm LSD, G13 purple lady, Big buda Cheisel, and Barneys Farm Utopia Haze.
This will be in a DIY bubbleponic system under 2 250w full spectrum (6400k,2700k) CFLS (equal to 2500w). Plants will be fed FoxFarm nutes.

You're gonna love that LSD. Two grows with great success. Hardy plant that can take most screw-ups a new grower will make as they learn. If you do it right you can get 3-4 oz per plant with a 4 week veg and a 8 week flower. 3 footer at finish. Happy at first and then you get very relaxed and what you were overly concerned about is no longer a concern. Wife is bipolar and it's here best medicine. Keeps her in the middle. There's a reason it's #1 at Attitude. Good strain selection you have there.

I'm using it now with ring drippers I made out of 3/8 tubing 1/16 holes in the top of the tube every inch and 190 gph pumps for 3 buckets. i use the 8" buckets (3 gal) that rest on STG roll.....the pic is at 2.5 weeks under t5 from clone. now under cool mh and twice as big. going to flower in a few days. the 3/16 rings and hose sucked so i replaced em when i spead em out to 3 per tub. My first grow about 24" tall in 3.5 weeks. Seems to be working. 30 mins on 1.5 hours off for 18 hours of light. on 2 times during dark for 15 minutes. I basted em with a dripper for the first two weeks till roots got below drip ring. 2.5 weeks in white thick roots commin out the hole in buckets so i spead onto mats......

I haven't used it yet, but I am planning on using the loose fill for my SOG op for my next cycle. I use 5"x5" square pots packed in tight, 4/ft^2, 2'x3' flood tray, 24 pots. The 2ft^3 bag should fill all the pots for one tray. The fact that it dries quickly might be a good thing. Should be able to flood more. More floods is more nutes and O2 to the roots. I got a pack of the 1.5"x1.5" cubes for cloning but was told, and can tell by looking at them that they will not be so great for cloning. But the loose fill should be a welcome and lighter alternative to Hydroton. Plus no cleaning. I like the disposable aspect of it. and I can have it shipped to me because it is so light. I plan on using a bit of hydrotn in the bottom of the pots to keep them from floating. As for expense, I think I can afford a bag every cycle at $30 and it would be well worth it compared to cleaning that damn hydroton. Lazy stoner I guess. I should be harvesting in the next few weeks. Next batch will be STG. I really hope it works well. I will let you know.

I have used the sure to grow cubes, as well as, the squall blocks. My personal opinion, is this stuff works well. I agree though it is expensive considering it is 1-pete food grade plastic. After purchasing the sure to grow cubes & blocks, and a little experimentation. I have come across an item in Wal-ly world marts called Nu-Foam (compressed polyester)resists mildew, will not yellow, and is non-allergenic. I fabricated my own cubes and blocks out of this stuff. I have to say, so far so good. My plants are doing well and it is still Ph nuetral. As an example, I went on a trip for four days. Before I left I had change out the nuts, so there would be no worries. When I got back, I realized I had made a fatal mistake and forgot to turn on the timer to the pump. None of the plants were affected they are all doing well. Four days later there was still enough moisture in the medium to keep the plants alive. I speak of sure to grow blocks as well as my own fabricated blocks (Nu-foam).
The one thing I did notice is, when I started some seeds I bought awhile back. There must have been some mold spores in or on the seeds. The sure to grow cubes had slight mold growth on the tops of the cubes; the Nu-foam did not. Take that for what it is worth, I am a newbie and am in no way an expert. Just my two cents on sure to grow.

its OK media, very prone to algae/mold. I heard its popped out in ebb/flow systems completely since its so light.
The problem with s2g is its soooo expensive. Like up to $4 per insert, about 6-7x more expensive than rockwool. Basically a huge cash drain.

I am using it in my Ebb & Flo and did not have this issue. More the opposite of this, when it drains over time you will need to pull up on the blocks to reset their height.
I would add photos, but as a noob I do not know how to do this.
