anyone use a air filter on their grow room intake?

I'm wanting to include a medical grade air filter for my air going into my room. My basement always gets dusty and such so I want to include the same types of filters I use on my furnace.

The way I'm planing this out is to build off my intake entrance a bit. Add 2 partitions in the duct pathing. The partition will act as the sandwiching members to squeeze and hold the filter. Then I would have The fans mounted next. I'm not sure if I should have the fans sit tight to the filter or if they are ok to sit back from the filter a bit. I guess a radiator fan doesn't have to rub the radiator to work does it?

if you think this would work let me know, or if you already have an implement in place, please share any words of design.
Thanks

You should have a gap from the filter to the fan, you will notice an increase of sound as it gets closer to the filter so you should judge the distance by that. Im guessing that you will want it around 10 inches away. The air filter works great especially in dusty places like my micro grow that im currently working on needs a filter because of all the dust and hardwood floors dont help either.
Good luck

right on my man. I wasn't sure if having the fans too far away from the filter if that would some how make the fans decrease their cfm. I'll start at a higher spacing than planned and compare them both. Thanks man!
