Anyone use Mr Grow Pro?

I have it and love it but have a few questions for other owners. Mainly wtf is this part covering the exhaust fan and how to i make one. Mine didn't include this part when I ordered sadly.

I know it's a filter and light block but my amateur attempts to make one have sent my Pc's internal temperature off the charts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I've got a mrgrowpro case on the way to me now, that thing there is an activated carbon filter over the exhaust fan, it reduces the odour that comes out of your case and a side affect is that it also reduces light seeping out of your case as well. You can buy an activated carbon filter online or usually at a pet store, or you can get some filters either end of a sealed body and fill it with carbon. There are lots of good threads in the DIY section, some of which are stickies.

EDIT: Sorry I just re-read OP, thought you said that you didn't know what it was. my mistake.

Ya I need something that will work with that case, fan and not drive the temps crazy. So far all the cheap diy carbon filters I have come across heat the unit to much. I'm using dryer sheets and nylon to hold it in place but there has to be a better option out there right?

If odor's your problem, chuck an ONA fresh linen block in between your plant and your exhaust, it should to the trick. If it gets a bit smelly in flowering chuck a filter on too, you should be alright with the flowering lights mrgrowpro provides. If your product didn't come with a part you should complain, he seems like he would replace it.

Where would I get a carbon filter sheet like that? Cut up a big one or are fish filters that size? I've only even seen the bags of carbon for fish stuff. I cant use a ONA fresh linen block again. Even on the tub it says not to leave in spaces like that with plants and leaving it in my room makes it smell cleaner, bad toxic lemon cleaner, not a good thing for stealth. Last time i left the ONA with the plant in there it tasted and smelt like lemon.

It came with something else, yours might end up with my version too. There is like a weird bit of metal covering the exhaust fan on the inside and nothing on the outside. It wasn't light proof and it just made the case get too hot when the lights were at the top of the case with the fan covered how he had built it.

Have you asked him yet? If you get an activated carbon filter that is too big you should be able to cut it up to size, with the ONA block drill a few small holes in it (as appropriate, try with 1, then 2.....) this will only get rid of the departing odour if you leave it under the exhaust. You could try this: http://www.aquariumonline.co.uk/carbon_impregnated_foam_sheet_17in_x_11in_x_1in_P0000000926.html

Doesn't seem like it will impact the fan too much, if that ones not right just look around on google (+google shopping) for activated carbon filter, carbon filter, carbon filter sheet ect. IMO that there is a reasonable price, there is a great one linked on these forums somewhere, I am hunting for it now and sure hope I can find it.

the small amount of carbon. that area would hold is not enough to eliminate any odor better of with ona blocks or an ozone generator plus the little amount of smell coming out of there just pipe the exhaust outside

p.s. I've been growing no filter and it smells like i just smoked in my room not that bad if i open a window almost no smell at all imo small carbon filters are a big waste of money you need a certain amount of contact time with the carbon for it to actually scrub the smell and your a supposed to pull the air through the filter not blow it on it were it can escape around the sides just my opinion been growing for 5 years

The carbon filter on that box that was supposed to come with his does remove most of the odour, especially during veg. You can only smell if you go up close you get a scent of it. With ona block and that baby your fine, you should be fine with ona block with more holes drilled in it. There's only ever one way to find out for yourself mate. If they don't work you've lost a couple of quid, better than being caught.
