Anyone use their old washer to clean hydroton?

I've heard that some people will use their old washers to clean their hydroton. I was wondering if anyone does this and what they do? I was thinking I would just plug my washer in fill with water and run it outside. Once the spin cycle starts, it would shoot the water into a drain.

Wont be for another few weeks but I am gonna try it out. I might put them in, pressure was them, then fill and run a cycle though.

Needs a bit more than that, and also requires plenty of patience to pull off sanely.... long story short, not a wise idea to re-use it unless you'd like random surprises appearing when you least expect it.

Yeah, great plan.. am just wondering what's going to be used that's hot enough to sterilize it, or otherwise remove the salt buildup and other.. as that wasn't mentioned. I have an idea in my head that involves H202, bleach, a power washer, and an oven, but again I state... toss it unless you want surprises.

Personally I would put it in a large pot (cooking pot) , cover with water and boil it,:fire: then rinse at least twice with fresh water. You should not have any probs with bacteria, molds or fungus & retained nutrients should have leeched out.:eyesmoke: If you're going to reuse your media, make sure it's as clean as you can make it. You don't want anything to screw up your grow because you might have been careless.:cuss:

I should have been more clear. Im not going to be reusing any old hydroton. This is just for cleaning all the new stuff that I get. Hopefully I can throw is 3-4 bags at once.

No recommendation for high % volume spike of H202? Am surprised.. I'd H202 @ pure 50% peroxide for 24 hrs to soak it, then boil the salts out.. then soak it in bleach for 2 more days, boil again to remove any residue.. then bake it.
