Anyone using 600 HPS aircooled cooltube ?

Im using two 600 watt aircooled 6" cooltubes with A/C in the room. Anybody using the same or similar setup, how close have you put your lights to the canopy without heat stress or burn and what were your temps at canopy level. Any information would be appreciated. Good karma to ya

I have a 400watt cooltube and 2 600 watt blockbuster air cooled hoods. The 400 watt I can get them as close as 6 inches without there being too much heat. On the 600's its more like 8-10 inches.

You have to think about light spread. If you get too close your light wont be reaching the outside edges. How big of an area are you trying to cover?

Area is (W) 45" X (L) 42" Reflectors are 21" X 22"side by side = (W) 42 x 22" Currently at 10 " from canopy to glass of cooltube 12" from actual bulb I
am concerned about light spread im trying to find a sweet spot between lumens and coverage without heat stress or to high of a air temp at canopy. Its kinda tricky to close some get starved others burn a little at 4" to 6" some were not getting full light and others a little dried out on the tops of the colas. P.S i am in day 44 of flowering. What height would you suggest

I am at 10" from the glass right now and they seem to be okay Heat wise I was at 5" to 6" from glass and they seemed to be a little dry and crispy at the leaves at the top of canopy although the buds on the top colas seemed okay nice an sticky but the leaves def seemed a little cooked. Thanks for the info. I would like to get closer but my gut tells me to stay at about 10" least i give the poor little girls a sunburn

im runing mine bout 12" high i found if i was going to close it was bleaching my leaves not burning, ive lined my grow room with mesh with 1.5" holes and scroged my plants around my room at the bottom and up the sides i doubled my area all my scrog is the same distance from my cool tubes.600w x2

I would say between 12-16" but ive had mine as close as 6" . Ya just want to make sure they are all getting an even amount of light. So you have your reflectors right next to each other?

yes side by side sides touching like one big reflector not end to end i think my problem might have been what jokero11 had "light bleaching" i think about 12" from bulb should do the trick no more light bleaching and fairly decent spread i have a digital light meter so i can tell where the light is reaching an the pattern these reflectors seem to throw an oval shape brightest to the sides and front of the bulb and not so much to the rear probably the cool tubes diffusing and distorting a little but with the temps where i am they are critical. I think thats what was happening to me "bleaching" i think im gonna have to stay at 12" seems some strains bleach and curl easier, The strains im running now are Master Kush (nirvana) and Juicy Frity Chronic (Delicious Seeds) massiv colas on the chronic about 12" tall an 4" Diameter full of white hairs and sticky cant wait to chop em down in about 12 days maybe 17 max.
