Anything wrong with this light setup?

I'm planing on doing a computer grow box, just trying to get everything sorted out so I do it right the first time. My first concern is the light spectrum. I plant to veg as short as possible, hopefully no longer than 2 weeks. Is it essential that I veg with 5500k+ bulbs? I would be fine with going out and buying maybe only 1 bulb to help out vegging, but the lights that I have now I kinda want to stick with.

My next concern are that I have 2 halogen bulbs I plan to use. I don't exactly remember the color temperature, but the only halogen bulbs that resemble mine on GE's website is a 3000k. Has anyone used halogens to grow before, I would have 2 72w halogens, + a 23w cfl, so hopefully it will be enough wattage.

That's about it, if anyone has any constructive criticism, please feel free to comment. Please be ware that I'm on a limited budget, so if you are going to suggest something to use make it cheap

First picture is of the 2 halogens, they give off a bluish color which means ~3000k right? The second one shows what type of setup I would have them, the halogens get pretty hot so would there be any issues for the cfl to be in the middle? Thanks, and looking forward to feedback!

Don't use halogen bulbs, they'll throw off heat more than anything. If you are going to grow, do yourself a favor and get the right kind of bulbs. 6500k for veg, 2700k for flowering. Watts don't mean a thing if you use the wrong lights.

loose the incandesents or halogens and use larger wattage cfls...like 42w or 65w (actual watts not equivilant). the 65s cost about $15 at home depot.

Thanks for the feedback, I thought the heat would be a problem also. How much wattage should be good for growing 1-2 small plants with cfls?

Don't worry so much about wattage, as efficiency and what will fit in your grow box. Usually 42 watt (actual watts) bulbs are the most efficient, but 23 watters work very well too. Those two bulbs usually throw off the most lumens per watt used.

Sounds good, hopefully I can pick up more cfls this weekend, along with my case. Glad I posted, or this would have been a disaster if I just went for it.

As long as you learn from your mistakes you'll be fine. The first few grows will usually have disasters in them, at least I expect my first few to have disasters, in my first grew I killed 3 seeds and I still have 4 going lol. I've had 100% germination though, just over watered 1 and just stopped growing and died.

I would like to stress that it was all my fault and nothing to do with breeders.
