My plants are starting to give off a really strong smell and are only early into flowering (AK-48 )
I cant get to the grow shop for at least a week or so to get a carbon filter, is there any other way i can neutralise the smell just untill then maybe?

you should check out rosemans thread called the diy odor control bucket.. its looks pretty sweet.. he takes some of that ona and mixes it with water and gets a bucket and drills some holes around the bottom of the bucket, adds a few inches of the ona/ water mix, and places a fan on top of the bucket so that it sucks out the dirty smelly air from the room and forces it through the ona mix and it comes out the holes laundry fresh.. looks great and he says it works great for smaller grows.. check it out if you get a chance..

if its indoor your doing....... i had the same problem so i went and bought a dehumidifier and framed a box around it and boarded it up with a door by the cup and filers so i can access it still and i run my outtake straight into the dehumidifier and you can smell anything untill you open the doors to my girls... hope this helps a little bit

don't put it too close to the plant...it'll affect the taste and smell of the actual product. Put it outside the closet/room and have a fan blow on it occasionally.

Sorry don't mean to thread hijack but these forums don't seem to have issue with such intrusions :joint: I am sure you all rather help all who ask :peace:. So my question is I think this ONA stuff should actually solve the one thing holding me back from starting my own personal grow. I now have no fear of any sent.

I wanted to ask for a few pointer though if anyone wants to chime in. My planned setup will be as followed:

  • Sealed room approximately 300 Cubic/ft (all in one room Veg/Flower/dry/cure All separated of course).
  • Intake and exhaust (cfm not determined yet)
  • Exhaust will go into a box that mixes the air-then out to a charcoal filter.
  • inside that box will be my ONA/Water solution

So I am I throwing too much in the mix with the filter? If not should the charcoal filter be before or after the ONA mix? Or should I eliminate the filter all together?

If it matters I am hoping to exhaust all smell back into the basement where the grow will be (outside my sealed grow project room of course). Is that a bad idea? Will the air in the 1200Sq/ft basement that is my feed for my rooms intake get tainted from the exhaust? The only thing I have running in my basement is a dehumidifier. I have been scratching my head for months trying to figure out how to exhaust conveniently outside. But inside would be so much easier (and private). I really only want to do 2-3 plants to have a smorgasbord of strains to randomly choose from.

Can never be too safe! :peace:
