Apartment growing security tips? please..

This is my first time posting anywhere so hello fellow smokers/growers
Currently i am growing in my bedroom with a 300 watt LED
light (working great so far although im only in week 2), 32" x 32" x 63" tent, simple fans blowing air in and out - temps usually around 75F-85F and humidity of 35%. i have done my homework before starting my first grow i literally have pages of notes. Also while im not home i dont run my setup at all til i get back and usually im only gone for a few hours a day.
oh and im on the top floor of a 2 story normal apartment idk what its called..
anyways im wondering..

-are 2 plants too much of a risk due to odor ect?
-will my electric bill be increased a lot running 18/6?
-will i have an electric usage spike? (electric is not included with renting)
-should i put a lock on my door?
-do apartments do more inspections ect during the fall and winter?

At these apartments there's usually no inspections ect but all that can change you never know maybe im just a lil paranoid but i am growing safely.
A few weeks ago before i had my setup i noticed maintenance had came in and place my outside light bulb on my living room table for some odd reason without notifying me, AND it was a perfectly good working bulb i found it strange but i didn't notice anything different around my place. i even had my grinder out on my bedroom table.
i got notified that in a few days their doing a pest control so tomorrow morning ill have my setup disassembled and put away in a box and my plants hidden away in an ingenious way.
Oh and my tent is just chilln in my bedroom i wont fit in my closet. its not too big tho but good enough for i would say 3 plants if i wanted too.:leaf:

1. No, unless you never cook food, or don't have any form odor control. Cat boxes are great at just generally lowering the perceived "funk" smell outside your door and replace it with cat piss, a lot of people have allergies and will want to stay away. Find out where your ventilation goes, and make sure it doesn't lead anywhere that can get you smelled. As long as you know how to keep a low profile, the Carbon scrubbers can wait until you have 5 plus large plants going in flower. Blaze where you know the smoke can't peak the interest of any passerby.

2. 300 watts(true watts?)x18=5.4kwh/day. Find your current electric rate from your energy company and find out the cost per day. They usually price by the KWH. Most LEDs aren't 100% accurate on power usage. Buy a kill-a-watt meter and you save yourself a lot of trouble calculating everything.

3. Very similar to the first question. As long as you don't find yourself in the next "tier" then you should have no problems. Most utility companies work on a tiered rate system, where the more you use the more you pay.

4. Don't do anything that makes you stand out from your neighbors, that is just asking to get busted. If you plan on modifying your domicile then do not draw attention. Don't fuck with the front door unless the management has approved. If you feel the need for additional privacy buy a keyed bike lock and simple hinged loop locking mechanism and lock up your grow. A closet is a great idea, even if you are growing in a tent, just put it in the closet so you can lock that shit down. You have to be able to trust that your shit is locked or you wont have a moment of sleep.

5. Late fall and early spring, although my place is once a year in the dead heat of summer. Go down to the front office and inquire about it. Usually, telling them that you have family business during whenever the scheduled maintenance and you want to make sure that your place is in order for the grounds guys, is a great way to diffuse any tension you may feel or suspicions you may have aroused.

Some additional tips:
-Build up your case: Even though you aren't in prison yet, who knows when that will change, make as many friends as possible and build a positive character rep. You wouldn't believe what a bunch of responsible respectful people will do to a jury's opinion of you. Talk to your neighbors, and help them out when you can.
-Always look and smell great when you leave your place. No red eyes, no smelly hands, and no B.O.
-Create a discrete business language to conduct all activities to the fullest extent of your anonymity.
-Never talk about it openly on the phone in a public place. If you have to; find a crowded area, or a secluded area, but anywhere in between is not worth someone hearing.
-Texting business is just plane retarded. Due to the patriot act they can bug your phone under "suspicion of illicit activities" but any HLS rep worth their salts is not going to just blind tap some asshat because grama said they were slingn' the dope. They will read every text you've ever sent first. Plausible deniability is your friend. Obviously there may be exceptions, but this rule has saved me multiple times. Tip 3 is the exception to this rule, but still follow this whenever possible.
-Keep your plant count as low as you can manage. Sea of Green is great until your buddy is facing 50-life for 25 felony charges of cannabis cultivation. In non-friendly territory this shit adds up quickly.
-Never tell anyone.
-Loose lips sink ships, while growing, don't stick your dick in crazy. So many growers disappear off RIU because their crazy ex fucked them over.
-Limit social interactions to completely positive nonchalant friendly minor conversation.
-Never let your shit into the hands of children. Keep all interactions with consenting adults, and you wont be wearing the lovely orange jump suit.
-You do not view what you are doing as a crime. This is the United States of America, where 18 year old people can buy tobacco products and kill themselves over time. Isn't it a tad bit hypocritical to be bashing stoner heads when so many vices, considered "immoral acts" by other cultures, continue uninhibited under the guise of our democratic policy. A plant is completely incapable of knowing how its remains destroy human lives, if ever you are in a moral conundrum while in the business, remember: Human beings make all the decisions. We hold all responsibility for our actions. I'm a patriot, and a companion to my fellow country men. Do not let the underground strip you of your pride.
-Do no harm and commit no other crimes while growing. Shouldn't need to be said, but hey I'm saying it.
-Never get busted: although "you only live once" remember that sharing a 9x5 with a 250lb ex meth addict is no laughing matter.

Generally speaking, whenever in public always look like there is some place you need to be, and everything is keeping you from your destination. You will appear surly, but your friendly demeanor will immediately diffuse any tension upon further inquiry. Any person you meet ever will most likely have questions about who you are and what you are doing on their planet. It is your job to be slightly boring, profoundly human, and in a rush for time. You will simply seem like a nice person who is working hard and getting nothing to show for it. Just like everyone else...

If you have a cat, or dog, these are both major pluses. Generally speaking, growers hate pets. The fucking hair during flowering, and final trim, is a nightmare. People don't know or give a single shit about that fact, but do you know what they do care about? Responsibility. We all have responsibilities, wouldn't it be great to be defined as responsible.

Grow for yourself, keep to yourself, and you will never go to jail.
Sincerely,
ILovePlants
P.S. Welcome to Rollitup.org! It's a great place to have all of your growing concerns addressed. A word of caution, asking questions that are answered elsewhere really pisses people off. Redundancy is not big with the RIU crowd. Good Luck!

You have got about the same setup as I do. I run my 32x32x64 in my closet in a small apartment. I am running 400HPS but I did use led at one point. Heat was an issue at first. luckily I have attic access. I drilled a 6" hole in the ceiling of the closet and but a 430cfm fan and ducting into a carbon filter. I no longer have a heat issue and there is no smell at all. The landowner had some people come over and do some work in the attic and they didn't seem to care. I am in a legal state with a card so I wouldn't care though if they had a problem with it. All in all my experience has been great. BTW 4 plants is great for that space & they will definitely smell without a carbon filter.

yeah after some research ima just make a carbon filter myself and vent into the bedroom sadly growing is not legal for me, kinda stupid how we live in a country where we aren't equal. if its passed in one state it should be passed in the others, its only fair. im jealous of all the ppl who can grow medicine legally

I gently disagree PSU - Hydro is about design, look at this http://www.hg-hydroponics.co.uk/nft-grotank-gt205-1452-p.asp and tell me what can leak? The tray sits on/in the res, the res is tough plastic and covers more than the footprint of the tray. You would have to be careful of water changes but a couple of heavy duty buckets and a length of syphon hose will sort that out. DIY NFT like Superstoner1 I agree but not all NFT is made equal. This is all assuming you remember P.P.P.P.P.P.P. as well as avoiding your grow when totally drunk.

Well I very gently disagree with you:) Yes not all hydro systems are created equal just like the rest of our grow gear, but I almost got popped as a student grower when I didn't notice a fracture in my ebb&flow res and the plumber was called! luckily i told my landlord my carpet shampooer fucked up and got water all over the area before they came in.....just not worth the extra risk IMO.
