first off i gota say i love the apollo 13bx its a great strain, but the one thing ive noticed with the ap13 is that it can be a finnicky feeder, same with a hybrid project im workin on that i used a ap13bx male, anyway ive noticed that u gota give the ap13 a good amount of nitrogen all the way to almost wk 3 of budding, same with my hybrid project, but something else ive noticed and idk if its jus me but the ap13bx seems to not like high amount of magnesium, i dont really add very much dolomite lime to my hot mix, 1 cup per 1.5cu.ft. of soil mix, when i brew my teas i add 1 tablespoon of un-sulphured molasses per gallon of water, but with the ap13 ive had to switch to 1 teaspoon or less per gallon of water or the leaves will somewhat burn, ive had a few trusted friends come over and give me their thoughts and we all agreed it had to be the amount of molasses i was adding in the teas, cause the ones that were getting 1tsp per gallon didnt have any of the leaf burn the other had, has anyone else had this problem??? im pretty sure i got it figured out and will make note to only add 1tsp of molasses per gal of water for the ap13 and my hybrid project from now on, but if anyone has any advice or thoughts on what else could have been the problem help me out it would be much appriciated:leaf:

I'm guessing the response you are going to get is that it's super soil so why are you watering with teas and expecting it not to burn :) I don't find that mine are sensitive to mg or molasses. I do find that since it's super soil if I add stuff I'm more likely to see burn issues because there are already nutes in the soil. That's not apollos' fault, it's mine (and yours) for adding stuff that is not needed. As far as finicky, I agree with you it likes a lot of N i'm not sure that makes it finicky, just hungry. Finicky for me means every time I give it nutes I see burn signs... or like one plant I have, give it nutes and it burns, don't give it nutes and it's N def. Calgon take me away. Apollo is the hardiest strain I've grown this round so far as far as being least prone to problems.

You are not the first to notice it wants extra N well into flower... i've seen one person say up to 4-5 weeks.

im not running super soil tho, im running my own mix,
1 part happy frog potting soil
1part fresh worm castings
1 part garden & bloome harvest supreme
1 part organic bountea humisoil

i mixed em well and cut mix 1/3 with perlite

i added a layer of happy frog bulb food 3-8-8 at bottom of containers
and i mixed in 1 cup of dr. earth all purpose 4-4-4 to soil mix before fillin containers up

other than that its been one compost tea every 3 wks, o ya and i did top dress the apollos and the thrillers (zombi x ap13bx) with alittle feather meal

i know the burn is my fault but ive used this soil recipe for a while and always have added compost teas but never seen it burn on any other strain, most of the strains i grow inside are indicas, primarily heavy feeding indicas so thas prolly why the apollo didnt react so well, too much nutes in my soil mix, idk fasure il agree with u ap13bx is a hardy strain ive seen it survive thru sum harsh outdoor conditions, but never had this problem before, i guess il back off and jus add water til she gets cut, il post the results and sum pics on here to let ya know if that was the solution, thanx for the advice senseimilla:bigjoint:

Sounds like a decent mix... I did custom mixes before this one... and actually do do a custom mix for my veg soil that's basically super soil for veg... the happy frog is decent definitely needs extra perlite though

She is definitely more finicky in flower than veg, that's for sure... I am still working on figuring out optimal growth in flower... going to be sweet when she's dialed in.

ya i always extra perlite, helps get that oxygen to those roots and mycos, for outdoors i get a base mix from the local earthworm soil factory, 58 bucks a yard, and i use that as my base mix and amend to it, il add a few bags of ocean forest and a bag of the garden & bloome harvest supreme, usually two bags of fresh compost and perlite, along with sum all purpose ya know the works! im kinda hopin that my hybrid wont be as hard to dial in for flower, the zombi i used in the cross is a heavy feeder and a heavy heavy flower producer, so im hopin those traits will pass on to my hybrid, my goal when i set out to make the thriller, is to combine the potency and taste of the apollo to the heavy heavy yielding zombi, the male apollo i used was a fruity smellin mafucka with alota trichome content for a male, from my few trial runs ive been happy with the hybrid, she seems to be a moderate feeder but produces bigger and tighter flowers than the apollo but with all the funky smell and crystal content that the apollo has, the thriller has more work to it before i start gettin it out into the medical scene but im pretty sure the thriller is my best hybrid ive made and i definitely have the apollo to thank for that, let me know when u get the apollo dialed in for flower if u dont mind id like to apply ur method to my next run of appollo and thrillers and see how she turns out, u can never know enough lol and i never pass on a chance to get valuble info, i know alot about growing but i definitely dont know it all!!!

Sounds like a nice hybrid :) i definitely wouldn't mind apollo with bigger yield :) though my bigger/earlier girl looks like she'll be a pretty decent yielder if things keep going *crossing fingers*
