i am currently trying to convert my 3x100 apollo horticulture led to a cob style light using cxb3590s. the light has 4 individual drivers. my hope is to put one 72v cxb3590 per driver. i am new to diy leds, premade panels get me 1gr/w of really nice bud but i feel i can do better on yield. constant current on the drivers is 550mA so does that mean a 72v cxb would be running soft at 39.6w? could i even run cxb3590 on these drivers? any advice or recomendations would be greatly appreciated.

You could run the 72v crees on those as well as some monos from the apollo. Just pick out some red or blue ones and slap then on the heatsink too.

You can easily run 2 36 volt 3590s. I'd run 3 vero 18s per driver. Those 12 vero 18s total would have a light output of approximately the same as 4 72 volt 3590s would but for half the price. The advantage of more LEDs is that some could be mounted outside the Apollo box and used as side lighting. Maybe 8 in the box and 1 in each corner of your grow cabinet to help eliminate shadows.
I'm working on a similar build but I only have 3 drivers so I'm putting 5 in the box and 1 in each corner.

cxb3590 would only be runnin g at 40w at 550mA, running 3 vero 18s per driver would give me a total of about 49w would there be mich difference in heat? enough to need to upgrade heat sinks?

Shouldn't make a huge difference if you're gonna be using active cooling. Passive I wouldn't know either way.

As long as there is an adequate heatsink in your light now, it should be sufficient for the veros. The Galaxy Hydro 300 I have has a small heatsink that will need upgrading.
