Apt grow

1. Unless your running a super computer its not going to raise your bill that much, computers have transformers to create more power out of the little power it recieves, so your computer could be pulling 400 watts from the transformer but its really pulling about 125 from your electricity.

but obviously you have no transformer, ive been running about 1500 watts of CFL's running at my apt and my bill went only went up about 50 bucks with the two exhaust fans.

and i can almost promise you that the electricity company is not going to be upset about you paying them for more power.

Get your grow on brotha!:leaf:

^^ Coudln't have said it better. I've got a 400w system and my electric bill has actually decreased because my heat is on less. A 400w system aint gonna cost you that much in electricity bro, just get on with it and make sure its stealth.

Can anyone tell me if a 400 w hps used with a 240 cfm exhaust raise
any red flags on my electric bill? I'm in a 1 br Apartment.
If anything gets you busted, its the landlord finding your crop and not your electic bill. Just pay it on time and you'll be fine. I'm running over 400 watts of cfls, plus fans, etc and my bill went up about $30-40 a month. One time last year we used our space heaters WAY too much and had a $300+ electic bill. Payed it on time, and never heard a peep from them OR the 5.0.

A 400 watt system has the same draw as a desktop computer. Be super efficient in other electric usage. There is almost always a way to be more efficient energy-wise.

Pay your bill on time and you will be fine as far as the power company is concerned. But electric usage is really the least of your worries.

You are in much more jeopardy growing in the apartment. Maintenance men and proximity to neighbors should be your bigger concerns. Odor can cook an apartment grower's goose, and quick.

Which is not to say don't do it. Do it. But do it super-stealthy.

Good luck and good growing.

My bill went from $120 to $250 when I started growing.
No one has asked any questions,
No one cares.

You'll be fine.

my first light was a 400 and it didnt realy make make much difference in my bill. and i had it runnin 24/7 for a month. your not gona see crazy light bills unless you get into the 1000 watters! and a high light bill could be from many other things besides growing. start up a grow dont tell anybody about it. get a carbon filter. and keep it growin.bongsmilie

i had the same question, only difference is ill be using a 1000W hydro setup in a 1 bd room apt. think ill be cool?
i grow in a 1bd apt. I have a lock on my closet door and cover it w/ a giant painting. its a narrow door. anyways! make sure that closet has no roof acess or pipes/electrical panels - give them no reason to have to enter there. I rent from a corporation so the rules are strict but they dont give that 24/hr notice. I cant even count how many times my buzzer has gone off then those rental bitches run in to "check" my heating and im on my second grow in the apt this year.:leaf:

u must read ur lease. I give 1 day ahead of time to my tenants. but an emergancy will allow me access asap. Just put it in an area they have no reason to look in. no bathrooms, kitchen, or heater area. build a grow box/dresser. no worries then.

Yo, we heat our house with a wood stove, but we have 6 1000w baseboard heaters as backup if we leave for a weekend. Last year I left them on for a month to see what our bill would be in March and I shit you not it was $550. I pay it and its cool. There are WAY too many other variables, your electric company doesn't give a shit. You should be more concerned about your landlord or any piece of shit friends you may have chillin at your place.

Yea its says they give you 24hrs notice. It will be in a place where there is no pipes or anything they will need acess to.
