Are all cfls the same?

Besides the wattage, are all cfls equally good for growing plants? Does the CFL from the local hardware store put out the same type of light as a CFL light advertised as a growing light?

What advertisement are you looking at?

Mostly your looking at a couple of choices in a diy store Cool white and warm white. But a hydro or grow store will also sell 6500k which is very blue and better for veg. Your typical diy store cfl is better for flower as its higher red.

But knowing what you have planned with your micro cab I would advise against cfl and go for household LEDs and remove the covers.
Or pick up some bridgelux EB strips, they really wont cost you much more but will be easier and much higher performing in your situation.

What LEDs was the guy in that vid you posted using? I cant watch the vid on youtube because I would have to log in.
