Are Hanna 98129 Meter any good? Are there any issues with returning them? What is the warranty for these tools? I will be getting it from a local business in my town. I have a few weeks before I buy this meter and wanted a few opinions on it.

I don't know model numbers but you can get Hanna pH meters on ebay for $30. Mine is red, 2 in square box on one end then a long probe. it's all you need. Calibrate to 7 with distilled or RO water. If these last 2 years I'm happy and just buy a new one.

Ever heard of google? You should give it a try.
Come on man, google can only tell you so much. Reviews are taken with a grain of salt because you don't know if those folks have any experience with pH meters. If you only knew how much time I spent looking on google before I posted this. Thanks for your help...

I ended up with the hanna checker model. I think it is ok, it does the job so far except it takes a few a times to get a stable reading. It was right about $35 before tax so I got a decent deal on it. If I had more money I would have looked at the oakton and bluelab more closely. Thanks everyone for their help.

I wish I had the cash to get the all in one hanna meter. I ended up not going with DWC so I don't really need all those bells and whistles. Thank you for your input! I am pretty sure all would be fine if I had chosen the tricked out hanna.

HANNA METER your talking about is great!! the 3 in 1 with temperature prob attached i recommend this meter over any
I have 3 of this peace of crap Hanna meters laying around (500$ or so), I own both Hanna and Bluelab, the latter is better at everything, more accurate, fast and reliable, Have gone through RMA 3 times with HANNA (thanks god Amazon covers it) so I've had 6 Hanna Pens in 2 years all faulty!!!! the sad thing was when I called tech support to complain about the last one arriving dry and DOA, the guy just admitted to my face their products were crap and were the most returned in the market. If you love yourself, don't go with Hanna

Ok thanks for your input. I think it is about 50/50 for people who love hanna pens vs those that don't prefer them. I appreciate the real feedback. It will most likely help a lot of folks out there looking into this specific issue. I used hanna and blue lab equipment in school so I have used both just wasn't sure which for the long term would be the best. Now that I think about it I remember my mentor/advisor saying that a lot of the "pen" style meters were hard to keep working, so anecdotal evidence may suggest you are on to something. I mainly used blue lab meters for my pH measurements in the field and never had any issues.

I really want to know which one (Hanna Vs Blue Lab) is the BEST concerning Electrical Conductivity (EC) test rather than PH test.
(Hanna HI98129 & .......30 speciality is that they come with combo version testing both PH & EC/TDS by same one device).
I was about to proucure Hanna HI98129, but seems that people are more positive to Blue lab than Hanna, I really want feedback best option of meters regarding testing of Conductance (in micro siemens/meter) to assure purity of Distilled Water or Demineralized water for the purpose of Gardening as well as topping up of pure water in Lead Acid or Ni/Cd Battery, wet type.

I've owned two HI98129 and a replacement pH bulb. The pH probes are a huge hassle, I went back to Hydrofarm drops. I always stored in storage solution and calibrated but they still go bad.

I bought a Hanna 98311 TDS meter to replace a HI98129 that went bad on the EC side. The resolution is good. I haven't calibrated it recently but I just stuck it in some store-bought distilled water and it reads 4 microsiemens.
