Are my t5's burning my sprouts?

My sprouts are 3 days old and are under 2 55 watt t5 lights. The tips of the 4 little leaves on the sprouts are browning up, possibly drying. The light is about 9 inches away from the sprouts, is that too close and am i burning them?

i have both light warrior and OF but i figured the LW would be perfect for getting my seeds started and then i was gonna do a mixture of OF and LW for my clones

Yea, so i just finished my 3rd 18 hours of light and my leaves are looking increasingly brown. I dont have a fan in there so the air is just sitting there. And the box only has 1 small hole, do you think this could be the problem?

I open it off and on while its in its 18 hours of light. I have my house fan blowing into the box every so often. I just put a temp/humidity monitor. I water them once a day but only about 1/5 a cup, only enough to soak the top and then make its way into the soil. More and more plants are showing the browning, and its my first grow so im not sure whats the deal. I'll take a couple pics within a day and get them up. I just dont want to see my kush ladies die. Im gettin a couple pc fans tomorow and making sure the air is moving, and possibly venting out. Ill keep you guys posted and i apreciate the feedback. Swish

I have t5's less than 6 inches from the tops of my plants and there is no burning unless the leaves actually touch the bulb's

I have a T5 4 bulbx 24" light that I use for starting babies. I took the box that it came in and lined it with mylar and made a quick adjustable height rig to hold the light over the box/plants. Super ghetto, but very fast and convenient for a light I use a week at a time then pack back up and put away.

Anyway, with the lights about 8" over the top of the pots my temps were quickly 90+ and climbing in a 77f room, so I got the clip on fan and mounted it up and it holds steady at about 78f.

I know they run cool, the box killing air flow and mylar were to blame for my set up, but the fan quickly fixed the temp issue for me.

oh yea take a look at the ingredients on light worrior you will see that they add a bunch of worm poop in thair and that shits strong so maybe you got nute burnt... this is just a guess but definatly not light burning

Damn, i dont know, it says its supposed to be real good for starting seeds. But fuck my little 4 leafed sprouts are turning all brown, even more, a couple are almost all brown, and i dont know whats the fuckin deal. I got a temp in there and it was toppin out at 85 so i think that might have done it, but i dont kno, this is my 1st grow. Im using the red dixie plastic cups(beer pong cups) and i have small holes in the bottom 1/3'' of the cup and then a couple on the bottom. I bought a 7'' clip on fan until i get my pc fans set up and make a couple 7'' holes in my box, but i dont know why they're are dyin off at such a rapid rate. Could it be the 85 degrees or could it be that iv been watering them once a day? but the soil seems completely dry when i water them. I have hard wood floor in my room so dust floats around my room kind of easily, could that also be another factor? We'll see how they turn out, but any further advice would really help, thanks guys

if your watering every day that could be a big problem.. are you watering the whole pot or just around the seedling.,are you watering it when the surface is dry or when its dry all down to your second knuckle of your finger. 85 degrees isn;t a horrible thing.oh nevermind i just read they are in beer cups..,next time plant em in the pot their gonna live in not a beer cup. are they aready root bound... that would be a reason for them to want so much water.......

Well its not a beer cup, just a red dixie cup. Iv seen alot of other people start them off in them so it cant be bad. No they're not root bound, they're only 4 days old, and only about 1/4 an inch out of the soil. The soil im using for my seedlings is slightly different then my final soil.( LW to lw/OF foxfarm) I water them about 2.5 tablespoons a day, which im going to cut down on a lil bit and see what happens. I dropped the temp and they seem to be liking it, but a couple are still in kind of rough shape

Ah, looked passed a main thing i was going to do- covering the top soil so that there is minimal evaporting of the water in the soil. I just took some bark off a tree and im soaking it in hot water, that way it should clean it and also soak it with moisture. Soud good?

Im going through the EXACT same thing right now, right down to soil mix.lol
my guys arent yellow but I had the lights like 2 ft, and I think I stretched my babies already @ 3 dys old if that's possible.
I just lowered them to about 7 inches tonight...
I hope that's not to close.

Therellas-I just did the same thing, for extreme measures i took the light up to 1.9 feet away from the little sprouts and also skipped a day of watering. 9 out of 10 plants are looking real good. On a couple of them, the first two sprouting leaves where browning up and shriveling but then the other 2 actual leaves( the ribbed fan leaves) just started to blossom and grow enough for me to tell that those 1st leaves were'nt of too much concern. This is my first grow so im still experimenting with what the sprouts can handle and how much water to feed them but its lookin good so far. Iv lowered the light back down to 9 inches from the soil, because my sprouts were stretching a lil bit, but they're still about 3/4-an inch so that stretch was good for them. And now is should get more stable, although who knows
