Are there any smart Trump supporters?

I was just thinking about this.. I haven't seen a single Trump supporter who can tell you what Donald Trump supports. They can recite his vague, ambiguous platitudes (He gonna make 'Murica great agin!), but they can't tell you specifics - how much something will cost, what percentage of the American people might support it, if anything has a chance of becoming actual policy, etc.

So does this person exist? Someone who can have a rational conversation about Trump's policies and why they support them without reverting into a neandertaal? Point them to this thread

I live in South Carolina. I have heard trump supporters here say that they actually like the fact he is racist. It's so crazy. They openly use racial slurs out in front of his rally here.

They were literally chanting "white power" as you passed by the venue he was at. It was the most terrifying thing I have ever seen. They were allowed by the police to scream obscene vulgar propaganda. It was in no way peaceful. They were trying to insist a fucking riot.

I'm fucking purging if he gets elected, and I'm heading right after my racist ass family members.

Tells me everything I need to know about you. Meer words are violence. And you'd like to use police to silence people who disagree with you.

I don't believe you for one second. I'll believe it when I see it on tv. With all the cell phones around if that were true it already would be.

Of course there are smart trump suppoeters. There are just lots of dumb ones too.

Pada, you can find plenty of idiots supporting hillary and sanders too. I've seen them.

But if you want to know why trump suppoeters can't give specifics, it's becuase trump can't give specifics. Or rather he hasn't, at least not yet.

I'm not sure I'm worried about specifics. We've had decades of politicians giving us specifics and look where it's gotten us.

The only thing that attracts me to trump is his status as an outsider. Someone who isn't part of the cartel that runs the show.

As much as you bitch about how broken our system is, trump might be your first chance to do something about it.

Hillary is just like everyone else who has been president for forever.

I saw it. It's troubling if true.

However, it isn't at all clear. There are loads and loads of things that could have been said, or it could just be an editing trick.

I wonder what you would have thought the man said had not the people who made the video poisoned the well so to speak by writing "white power" on the screen.

I listened to the whole thing. Lots of editing. You want to believe it so it isn't that hard to convince you.

But using the standard of a court of law, I couldn't convict.

You say you support Trump because he's not like all the other politicians, but neither is Sanders, but you didn't support him. So it must be something else that Trump has that Sanders doesn't..

So what is it?

You're not worried about specifics because we've had presidents who were specific and look where we are now...

Brilliant

Trump is not "an outsider", you fool. He told you he is and you believed him. Meanwhile, he's been bribing politicians since he was in his 20s. If you think he's "an outsider", you're an idiot. He's "an outsider" in the same way George Soros is "an outsider"

Neo Nazi's by and large support Trump, do you deny this?

If not, why do you think Neo Nazi's would support Trump? Do you think wide support for a presidential candidate from Neo Nazi's might be something to think about?

As troubling as seeing that is. I think we are all kind of institutionalized to thinking this type of behaviour is the norm of humanity anymore. As long as it is not happening in my immediate presence, kinda like meh. That's terrible. Then change the channel and move onto something else more comforting to witness.

Ignorance truly is bliss. Well. In my opinion.

I think you're right, and I think that's something we need to work to change. This has been an issue since 1964. Conservatives seem to think that things like Roe v. Wade and the Civil Rights Act are unconstitutional laws on par with Dred Scott and that if they just oppose them long enough, surely competence will come around!

Everyone like to "talk" about the issues it brings other people's drama into our lives. It makes us feel special to be "above" that type of behaviour. That's why it is so popular in our news and even entertainment with reality tv and court shows, even comedy exploits our real life drama into the short stories. Yet. Nothing ever really changes. It is engrained in our culture to have this drama. We are special. Spoiled and entitled. There is never enough. We always have to have more, more and more. People need attention. People are entitled to be heard no matter how ridiculous and self serving is the message.

I honestly don't know who I will vote for. If at all tho I am registered. I just don't know if I have a vote. I'm just not feeling it this time.

The presidential vote is pretty much for the party at this point, not the candidate

We might think we have a vote during the primaries, but with the media acting as the de-facto 4th branch of government, they pretty much choose who will become the candidates on the ticket. Trump has gone against that grain only because he has the ability to fund his own campaign. Don't confuse that with popularity. It's essentially his media machine vs. the mainstream, and as of yet, the mainstream has been playing directly into his tactics, even when they report negative information about him, he rises in the polls. His base doesn't care about the negative things the mainstream points out and they can't help but report on him, good or bad, because it garners ratings. That's why he's all you see on TV or during the debates. American journalism has zero integrity, they go with whatever gets views. Even if Trump came out and said we need to shut down all American media outlets, they would still show him and his speeches, unobstructed, because it gets them the short term profit, even at the expense of their long term existence.
