Maybe because for the datasheet they test the chips at 25 degrees.
Singling out 1 factor.
While in your case you probably used the same heatsink for both V5 and V6.
The V6's better thermal resistance and efficiency is reducing the temperature (relative to the V5), which we know increases efficiency. And the V6 also takes a temperature above binning conditions better than the V5 which also adds a little to the efficiency. (less temp droop)

that would be good. ive sent several emails asking them to develop a holder for the 38mm cobs (clu 058, cxm32, etc), but they always fall on deaf ears
im my tests it was all pretty isothermal, "pulse-y" tests if you will. but yes it seems the thermal management is the most significant upgrade (and they already had superior thermal management imo, better than cree's alumina ceramic substrates

Did they transfer you to the OEM plant in Texas? That's who you have to talk to, minimum quote is 500 pieces, but it's a hell of a deal. I sent you a PM about the BJB holders. thanks coberto.

no i just emailed support and never got a response, that was the extent of my attempts (twice).
i'll look into their direct pricing, see if its better than my current supplier (whos buys 10000 at a time from them). it usually comes out in the wash and like last fall, when one is sold out, all are sold out, like they are bottlenecked in manufacturing

From speaking to their employees, it doesn't seem to be a "hot seller", the manager had to get on the phone because 2 others had never heard of "chip-lok" products. Basically they are made to order, not heavily mass produced, which explains why some after market sellers, charge 5+ per item.
One of the reps for citi said they may just have graphtek installed on the back of every chip for next generation, since a couple other brands are now doing that.

Man us muricans are so spoiled. I once paid $120 for this new Miracle "Induction CFL light" with this metallic ring thing around it. It lasted about a year and I saw that it added no benefit. It was USA too.

Well I dropped the useless reflector, but all the other prices you mention do look very high yes. $1.75 for a few inches of wire? It's free at most sites where you order this stuff. So is the heat sink sticker and you can get all this together from one site. No need to browse multiple sites.
Not sure why people are cheering for someone trying to make a fast buck like this. We all know where to get this stuff and for a lot less than that. Either from other forum advertisers who actually help people around here or from where it's simply cheap.
