Hi All,
The husband and I are beginning to put a business plan together to open up a Hydro Shop in AZ. There aren't too many around yet, especially in our part of town. We've been researching. It looks like a combo of internet and in-store sales are the way to go. I've contacted a few distributors to see what minimum "buy-in" costs would be to put their products on our shelves. Still no word yet. Not only is Recreational MJ on the ballot for this election, but urban and hydro gardening are on the rise, with no signs of slowing. This is the "Green Rush". During the gold rush, not everyone found gold, but everyone brought their pickaxes, shovels, and equipment. We are going to supply the prospectors with all they need!

Questions for the experts out there:
-What is the minimum buy-in cost to get the big distributors like Sunlight Supply and HydroFarm?
-What's the general mark-up and how do you or your business stay competitive with online pricing? (I know online is tough to beat, but customers right now don't enjoy leaving a paper trail, and typically don't want grow supplies left on their doorstep like a Scarlet Letter.)
-What was the biggest challenge?
-What makes your business successful?

Any tips, tricks and advice are welcome! Please note whether you are a business owner, employee, or frequent customer in your comments. :)
