Remember however that oxygenation is only a minor problem when your mushrooms are at all wet and any reaction will be further slowed in a frozen state. You could also fill your containers with an inert gas to the same effect. I have had samples that were 10 years old with little if any degradation in dry, frozen and light free containers, each holding enough such that you need not open ore expose your entire stash at once. I have hash that is stored the same way for 20 years.
Any moisture left in the matterial will eazly be stored in the assorber as FeO3/4 (up to around 4%)

I have read about the inert gas thing , It's my understanding that it either has to be put in underpressure or a vaccume to be as effective , since most stuff is porous and a simple spray would not remove all the O2, but the assorber works simmilar to a desicant sucking it thru
Also O2 asorbers have a advantage by continusely asorbing O2 , If you stored in a perfectly sealed mylar bag their is still O2 passing thru the seal its self (be it very little)

I was thinking about storing some extract myself , from what I have read the best LTS method would be in a alchohol solution

I allways have good times when I just take alot(and don't care)...if the bag of shooms gets passed my way,I eat till I feel ill trip, usually its allways weak shrooms so I start with a gram to get the feel of them in case they are the eww whee..occasionally,you get the ewww whee..I'm tired of occasional(or nothing)...
What type did you eat canndo?
Are there large differences in potency between the mushrooms? Cause I always go to this old hippie and usually 1 cap can fuck you right hell up. I always thought maybe it was just my personal tolerance level to at least some degree (of course the strength of the drugs is important too and these are obviously good quality).

What's the difference between them? Because I've had other types nowhere even close to as strong.

I remember vividly eating a single cap though and I was so trashed I tried riding my bike and I'd turn my head and there was at least a 2 or 3 second lag on the visuals (and it was a weird transition).

my experience with mushrooms is that you never go into a trip with predetermined expectations, because you never seem to meet your own expectations, and are left disappointed. Probably the best trip I had was a friend who gave me a call outta the blue (another friend wanted to trip, he hadn't in awhile)asked my buddy with me if he was doing anything..nope, an hr and a half later we were all chowin down, nothing planned, no expectations. a fun night of things unfolding naturally as they should
Funny you mention this, because when I consider my experiences I would have to agree with your conclusion.

Yeah, cubensis strains generally have similar potency to each other (except for penis envy apparently but I've never eaten them) but some of the others can be much stronger. Cyanescens can be like 3-4x stronger than cubes.

Properly sealing the mason jars , can actually be tricky with some powders , or when working with hot jars

First thing is to always use a new lid or invest in the reusable taters , If your lid is new out of the slieve just inspect the rubber seal to ensure it is CLEAN , If you must reuse lids clean them well with soapy water and dry well with something that is not going to leave behind fibers on the rubber, If you have reused the same lid many times a quick wipe of alchool on the rubber can help, just be sure to let it completly dry first

When storing dry goods in a jar alone or with a dessicant , You will not obtain the vaccume effect like the store bought jars, They are filled and sealed with hot contents , after the jar cools the contents shrinks (heat makes everything but water expand) and builds a vacumme

When using a O2 assorber you will have a vaccume effect (if done right) , First o2 assorbers require a small amount of water to work so the mushrooms must not be 100% brittle cracker dry , 98% cracker dry is just right, Since you need the small amount of water no dessicant is used with the O2 asorber .
Simmply fill your jar about half way open you package of O2 asorbers and drop the correct amount in, close the package of asorbers, fill the rest of the jar leaving around 1/4'' space between the lid and fill, gently place the lid on the jar without getting anything on the rubber , and lightly tighten the lid down (you dont need to over tighten it , in fact that can cause leaks)

Put the jars away for about 24 hours, after this amount of time you should notice a vaccume has formed sucking the lid down. If this has happened just store in the dark at a stable but cool temp.

If you have not gotten a vacume seal the lid likely did not seal or the mushrooms were likely to dry or O2 asorbers do go bad if not stored properly

Thank you so much for this! Yes my mushrooms were cracker dry, literally hard as little rocks when I put them in the bags and into my mason jars. I could break them into dust by barely touching them! So I take it this could be why the jars have not vacuum seal? They are also jar lids reused from my previous cures/harvests. If they are this dry should I still buy some O2 absorbers to get whatever air is left in the jar upon closing? Do ya think the jars are still keeping air out despite the fact they are popping and not vacuum sealed? I would assume the rubber ring down on the glass being pressed on by the metal lid would prevent air flow?

I may eat some more today just to test! I checked my jars again today..mushrooms still seem very very dry so I doubt any air/moisutre is getting inside...I HOPE atleast

Also Canndo: Any particular reason you chose mushrooms for this mission?
it is my comapanion and guide, I was informed rather briskly never to return to the real of lsd and mescaline is too subtle
. Also, if you look, I know my way around a Petri dish.

the way the gas works is it is heavier than air so it pushes all the air out. you dont need any vacuum to do this its like filling it with water tap it a few times so the air pockets that got trapped come out and throw in a o2 absorbed. thats how people do long-term storage for food like grains and has a shelf life of 25yrs. at least thats the claim

3-4x stronger sounds about right.

I was thinking more along the DMT lines. A buddy of mine has been dabbling with it and has had some rather profound experiences that have reshaped how he thinks about things. Sounds up your alley.

Properly dryed and stored in a sealed mason jar - they should last at least 1-2 years likely alot longer

You will not obtain a vacume unless you properly use a O2 asorber , jar hot (not a option for this) , or use a vacume device

Telling if a lid will seal properly can be diffucult even with experianced canners , Honestly they are cheap 100 for about 10$ , I would just use a new lid if you were looking to store long term .

Your jar is likely working fine , Im applying canning and standard long term food storage technics to this , which since the mushroom is so dry is realy overkill in most casses

Im not saying It could not be done like that , but standard practice is to just use a mylar bag with O2 asorbers , squezing all the air out before sealing , then storing in a hard plastic (5gallon bucket) to prevent rodents chewing thru.
This way also has the advantade of seeing a clear vacume pulled on the bag, to ensure the seal took, and lasts
