Anybody think atheists will ever in the future gather in one area like a church like setting? What would be the discussion lol

I guess they would keep repeating "there is no god" and making some smores over burning religious books.

On a real note, they would probably discuss solutions to the negative side of religion. Or maybe find ways to change laws so that it's fair for atheists. Like how alot of people can't purchase alcohol on sunday.

Hey, Hep! It's good to see you. I think we were once discussing the various Atheist Conventions around the nation. Years ago there were only a few organizations that held them, but there are more springing up all the time, which I feel is a positive sign. There are also human secularist clubs and meetings in most major cities...

I would think the amazing meeting would be the largest american gathering of atheists, although the general theme is skepticism.

I do not believe in any god whatsoever. I have learned about many different religions, tried them out... none of them worked for me. For a while I thought that maybe I was being too picky and I was just looking for the "perfect religion."

But that wasn't the case at all. I just plain and simple don't believe any of it. Every religion contradicts itself, and the only purpose I've ever seen religion serve is a security blanket.

I refuse to put my faith in something that I can't prove really exists. To me, that doesn't make sense. I put my faith in my friends and my family.

I don't need a religion, a church, or a god to help me. That is what friends and family are for. They help you get through the tough times.

I believe in the power of the human mind, and I think we weaken ourselves when we put all of our faith in a god.
You mean you put your faith in evolution, instead of God? Otherwise how do you explain why your alive or how the universe came into existence... Christianity is the one true faith and Jesus is the living God.

Evolution needs no faith, the evidence for it is extraordinary. Do you understand this process, and do you really need belief in a deity to understand why you're alive? These subjects should have been taught to you in elementary school. True, we do not yet know how the universe came into existence, but why pretend to know? Take a lesson from Zaehet and learn to have the courage to admit the limits of our knowledge, even if it makes you uncomfortable. And most importantly, resist the urge to explain these phenomena with, 'God did it!' That explains nothing, and greatly compounds the problems we are trying to solve...

Why would I want to? The world is a complex place, and I am a member of a sapient race in its very infancy. If I can explain the really big stuff, it is essentially certain that i am doing it wrong, because an explanation simple enough for me to comprehend and communicate is going to be too simple to be true. That is a catch-all rejection of all mythology imo, be it religious or otherwise - by reducing it to a narrative on a human scale, it becomes too simple to be even possibly true. cn
